Well, I know everyone either has a permanent or temporary fave song. So, I just wanna know what part of that fave song's lyrics is your favorite. (I don't know if the previous sentence is in proper...engrish..grammar...but..meh.) k0ge's permanent fave song: Vincent (Don Mclean)
    .... And now I understand
what you tried to say to me
and how you suffered for your sanity
and how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
    Perhaps they'll listen now.....

Izzy's would be...AFI - God Called in Sick Today

    let's admire the pattern forming.
    murderous filigree.
i'm caught in the twisting of the vine.
    go ascend with ivy, climbing.
ignore and leave for me the headstone crumbling behind.
i can't help my laughter as she cries.
my soul brings tears to angelic eyes.
let's amend the classic story, close it so beautifully,
    i'll let animosity unwind.
steal away the darkened pages, hidden so shamefully.
i'll still feel the violence of the lines.
i can't stand my laughter as they cry.
my soul brings tears to angelic eyes.
and miles away my mother cries.
    omnipotence, nurturing malevolence.

And "Call me Call me" from Cowboy Bebop and "Konya wa Hurricane" from the original Bubblegum Crisis. Permanent and I listen to at least one of them right before going through the perilous gates of my employer.

    To My Wossack :D

A Groovy Kind Of Love (Featured on the soundtrack of "Buster", 1988)

When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do
Is take a look at you, then I'm not so blue
When you're close to me, I can feel your heart beat
I can hear you breathing near my ear
Wouldn't you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love

Anytime you want to you can turn me onto
Anything you want to, anytime at all
When I kiss your lips, ooh I start to shiver
    Can't control the quivering inside
Wouldn't you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love, oh

When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do
Is take a look at you, then I'm not so blue
When I'm in your arms, nothing seems to matter
My whole world could shatter, I don't care
Wouldn't you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love
We got a groovy kind of love
We got a groovy kind of love, oh
We got a groovy kind of love

Im sorry but all of it allll of it is my favourite!!!!! I love this man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phil Collins yay!!!!!!
    :shy3: :shy2: :blush2:

One of my favorite songs is "America," by Simon/Garfunkel. My favorite stanza from the song is this one:

Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over and open field.

The lyrics themselves don't mean much, but every time I hear this in the song it just sends shivers down my spine. I just picture this young couple traveling the country and living out their dream, just relaxing and enjoying the journey.

Another current favorite song is "Dream to Make Believe" by Armor for Sleep. My favorite part of that song is the last half:

    I hope that dreams
    come when I die,
    So we can talk,
    I won't wake up
    I'll ask you how
    your life worked out
    I'll never know
    that I'm just dreaming.
I wake up and think dreams are real
I sleep so I don't have to feel
The truth that you can never be
the one person that won't ever forget me.
Let me sleep some more . . .

Oh, the list goes on and on, though most of my *top* favorite songs are instrumentals . . . oh well!

Exiztone - if the song is really about heroine addiction, then I think I know what some of the lyrics are referencing to. This is my own interpretation, and it could by all means be wrong. I don't know ANYTHING about this band (since I've never heard any of their music before), so I'm working strictly with what's here (plus, I've never heard the song, which can be very important when interpreting a song). Anyway, here it goes.

    "Words like violence
    Break the silence
    Come crashing in
    Into my little world
    Painful to me
    Pierce right through me
    Can't you understand
    Oh my little girl"

"My little girl" could possibly address a spouse, or a friend or family member of the speaker. Somebody close, whoever it is, and I would imagine that this close person is trying to talk the speaker out of his habit. The speaker is wrapped up in his addiction, perhaps in this instance he is on the drug, and he doesn't want the experience to be interrupted.

    "All I ever wanted
    All I ever needed
    Is here in my arms"

This is addressing the needle - the heroine - and emphasizes on the addictive aspect of the drug (wanting and needing it).

    "Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm "

Again, the speaker is addressing the "close friend."

    "Vows are spoken
    To be broken
    Feelings are intense
    Words are trivial
    Pleasures remain
    So does the pain
    Words are meaningless
    And forgettable "

This could possibly hint at the "close friend" being a spouse, and that the speaker doesn't care about the relationship anymore. He only wants his drugs.

    "All I ever wanted
    All I ever needed
    Is here in my arms
    Words are very unnecessary
    They can only do harm"

Just a repeat of words already said.

    "Enjoy the silence."

    Enjoy heroine.

Depeche mode..... never been my thing. For heroin addiction songs, I've gotta go with:

Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

    Lyrics - Anthony Kiedis

    Sometimes I feel
    Like I don't have a partner
    Sometimes I feel
    Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
    The city of angels
    Lonely as I am
    Together we cry

    I drive on her streets
    'Cause she's my companion
    I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
    She sees my good deeds
    And she kisses me windy
    I never worry
    Now that is a lie

I don't ever want to feel
    Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
    Take me all the way

    Yeah

    Yeah, yeah

    It's hard to believe
    That there's nobody out there
    It's hard to believe
    That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
    The city she loves me
    Lonely as I am
    Together we cry

    Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood

    Under the bridge downtown
    I could not get enough

    Under the bridge downtown
    Forgot about my love

    Under the bridge downtown
    I gave my life away.

    I love this song.

"otherside", by the red hot chili peppers.

How long how long will I slide
    Separate my side I dont
    I dont believe its bad
    Slit my throat
    Its all I ever

I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
Ive got to take it on the otherside

Centuries are what it meant to me
A cemetery where I marry the sea
Stranger things could never change my mind
Ive got to take it on the otherside
    Take it on the otherside
    Take it on
    Take it on

How long how long will i slide
    seperate my side i dont
    i dont believe its bad
    slit my throat
    its all i ever

Pour my life into a paper cup
The ashtrays full and Im spillin my guts
She wants to know am I still a slut
Ive got to take it on the otherside

Scarlet starlet and shes in my bed
A candidate for my soul mate bled
Push the trigger and pull the thread
Ive got to take it on the otherside
    Take it on the otherside
    Take it on
    Take it on

How long how long will I slide
    Seperate my side I dont
    I dont believe its bad
    Slit my throat
    Its all I ever

Turn me on take me for a hard ride
Burn me out leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that
    Its not my friend
I tear it down I tear it down
    And then its born again

How long how long will I slide
    Seperate my side I dont
    I dont believe its bad
    Slit my throat
    Its all I ever

    yeah
    well. thats one of em.

Young Mc - Bust A Move - Bust A Move lyrics:
This here's a tale for all the fellas
Try to do what those ladies tell us
Get shot down cause you're over zealous
Play hard to get an females get jealous
Ok smartie, go to a party
Girls are stancin the crowd is showin body
A chick walks by you wish you could sex her
But you're standin on the wall like you was Poindexter
Next days function, high class luncheon
Food is served and you're stone cold munchin'
Music comes on, people start to dance
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants
A girl starts walkin, guys start gawkin'
Sits down next to you and starts talkin'
Says she wanna dance cus she likes the groove
So come on fatso and just bust a move

    You're on a mission and you're wishin'
someone could cure you're lonely condition
You're lookin for love in all the wrong places
Not fine girls just ugly faces
    >From frustration first inclination
Is to become a monk and leave the situation
But every dark tunnel has a lighter hope
So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope
New movie's showin... so you're goin
Could care less about the five you're blowin
Theatre gets dark just to start the show
When you spot a fine woman sittin in the front row
She's dressed in yellow, she says "Hello,
Come sit next to me you fine fellow"
You run over there without a second to loose
And what comes next, hey bust a move

If you want it baby you've got it (repeat)
    Just bust a move

In the city ladies look pretty
Guys tell jokes so they can seem witty
Try to tell a joke just to get some play
Then you try to make a move and she says "no way"
Girls a fakin' ... goodness sakin'
They want a man who brings home the bacon
Got no money and you got no car
Then you got no woman and there you are
    Some girls are sophistic... materialistic
Looking for a man makes them opportunistic
They're lyin on the beach perpetratin a tan
So that a brother with money can be their man
So on the beach you're strollin'... real high-rollin'
Everything you have is your's and not stolen
A girl runs up with somethin to prove
So don't just stand there, bust a move

    (break down)

Your best friend Harry has a brother Larry
In five days from now he's gonna marry
He's hopin you can make it there if you can
'Cause in the ceremony you'll be the best man
You say "neato"... check your libido
And roll to the church in your new tuxedo
The bride walks down just to start the wedding
And there's one more girl you won't be getting
So you start thinkin, then you start blinkin
A bride maid looks and thinks that you're winkin
She thinks you're kinda cute so she winks back
And now you're feelin really fine cus the girl is stacked
    Reception's jumpin, bass is pumpin
Look at the girl and your heart starts thumpin
Says she wants to dance to a different groove
Now you know what to do g, bust a move

i heard this song twice, downloaded it, and now is my fave song:D

    I aim to please.
(though slightly dissapointed, but technically that's Pantera's Phil Anselmo's sack. So I can't take credit.)

Oh my, this got off topic sort of din't it? :D yes yes.

Ah, here's a timeless addition to the lyric bank. ^^
    Bud the Spud

Well it's Bud the Spud, from the bright red mud,
    Rollin' down the highway smilin',
The spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig,
    There from Prince Edward Island,
    There from Prince Edward Island.

Now from Charlottetown, or from Summerside,
    They load him up for the long long ride;
He jumps in the cab and he's off with the Pride Sebagoes.
He's gotta catch a boat to make Tormentine,
Then he hits up that old New Brunswick line,
Through Montreal he comes just a flyin'
With another big load of potatoes.
Well, the cops have been lookin' for the son of a gun
    That's been rippin' the tar off the four-O-one;
They know the name on the truck shines up in the sun --
    "Green Gables."
But he hits Toronto and at seven o'clock,
He backs her up again at the terminal dock,
And the boys gather `round just to hear him talk
About another big load of potatoes.

    "Hey bud."

    Is that you callin'

"Ya Bud, what are you haulin'?" .....

and, of course it goes on to tell about all of Canada. The land that I proudly call home. Damn, u just can't beat Stompin' Tom Conners. :D
