Neon Genesis Evangelion Favorite moments of the series?

Mine would be...
-when Shinji is in the Sea of Drac (not sure if thats the term) and begins to hallucinate about the streetcar and gets into that "the shinji in your mind, the shinji in others minds" bit
-Rei's sacrifice. Just bloody amazing. Very sad but not overdone or anything. And when they recover her remains... ghastly.
-"Congratulations."

 

Would you consider EoE part of the series?

- When Asuka regains control of Eva. That battle is just amazing.

-Possibly Misato's finest moment is when she blows the head off UEF member while rescuing Shinji.

The scene in the actual series that sticks out the most, hmm...I guess when Eva 01's control is switched over to the Dummy Plug for the first time. That just rocked with a capital 'RRR!' Shinji just haplessly watching himself cause so much pain to another, must have been terrible for him..he feels he has no right to hurt others cause he considers himself so worthless. When he realized it was Toji..ooh, *snap!* heh.

I know all these scenes are horribly violent, but don't get me wrong..I loved the deep self-analysis allmost as much..also so nothing wrong with the original ending. Id consider it better too if not for the added plot and mech fight EoE added.

Yep, Asuka's fight in EoE was indeed awesome, and she had a pretty horrific death sequence too.

The scene in the 24th episode when Kaoru began to descend into Central Dogma.The way music (Ode to Joy was the music)was placed in that scene made that scene very strong.

Another scene I liked was the scene when Asuka and Shinji messed up fighting the angel(the one that split in two) and their Evangelions were upside down stuck in the ground.That was funny.

There are many others I liked.The whole series was great..

 

Yeah, Asuka's last stand was frickin amazing, also when Misato died, I was like, d00d, that was cool. All of ep. 24 ruled pretty much, and the fight with the angel in the second ep was pretty cool too. And also that bit where the dummy plug was first used, or that bit where Eva 01 breaks from it's armour and starts eating the other angel. So many cool bits.
By the by, I'm still a n00b to eva pretty much, but did Asuka really die? And if she did, then what in hell is the end of EoE about? She seems fairy lively for a dead person.

 

EoE was a substitute for thelast 2 episodes.

Best ep=26 for the violin version of the theme tune, or... the synchronised fight set to classical music.

BTW, Nephilim, Asuka DOES NOT DIE, though her Eva is pecked apart and mutilated. She is very alive in the end of the movie (when she says "I feel sick").

But anyway, yeah, Asuka's fight scene in EoE was my favorite fight sequence in the whole series.

It was also INSANE when everybody in NERV starts to turn into LCL (or whatever that orange substance is called . . . sorry if that's not correct!). I was just like "Woah . . . " and I was just mesmerized by it all.

I liked what happened in the last episode in Shinji's perfect world.

Asuka: "I can't believe you got one of those, you pervert!"

Shinji: "I can't help it! It's the morning!"

 

By jove, I agree with you - I really liked that "alternate timeline" sequence, especially with Rei running in her schoolgirl outfit with a piece of toast in her mouth. That was hilarious!

Thats up to interpretation, really. Some say its Asuka, some say its a combo of Asuka, Rei and Misato's best qualities in one girl. I myself am unsure. Also its possible she did die, but had the will to come back, or something. It was more for simplicities sake than anything else that I used die.

 

Alright, I see your point. Maybe I'll just rewatch the movie . . . wait, I don't like the movie!!!! But that's just opinion.

Though how is the theory of the body in the end being asuka, rei, and misato supported? I don't even see how that could have been come up with.

I think, just working with what's giving, it's just Asuka. Yes, her Eva got mutilated by the other Evas (and it is *possible* that she died and somehow willed herself to live again), but either way the body in the end is Asuka, and there are no hints that I remember that the soul is anybody other than Asuka. Maybe I should just watch the movie again (and it would be a while if that happened, since I don't own the movie and I personally don't particularly like it anyway. But again, that's my opinion).

In the commentary, it points out some of the hints, such as the Asuka having brown eyes.... or something.... bleugh, this movie kills my brain.

 

Not to mention she's bandaged the same way Rei was at the start of the series.

Nor have I actually seen the film on DVD (since I saw it on a tape a friend lent to me). Ironically, End of Eva as a whole is my least favorite part of the Eva series, since Anno's apocalyptic vision is very disagreeable to me. It just contains some totally awesome moments, which might be the reasons for me to actually buy the DVD . . .
