Ranma 1/2 Favorite Ranma pairings?

Well with an anime that's basically based on two characters unintentionally falling for one another while trying to ward off about five different suitors on each side, there are quite a few possible pairings to choose from.

So are you a canon fan? (Ranma/Akane, Ryoga/Ukyo etc.) Are there two characters you'd like to see end up together or think would compliment each other well? (Ryoga/Akane, Ranma/Shampoo etc.) Or would you rather see some Ranma yaoi parings simply for the sake of being yaoi? (Ranma/Genma springs to mind...I'm sick, I know).

For me it'd probably have to be the traditional Ranma/Akane, Ryoga/Ukyo etc., though I don't have particularly strong feelings toward these pairings so I won't drown in my own tears if they don't work out. I've actually sort of played around with the idea of Ranma/Ukyo, Ryoga/Akane, simply because I think they compliment one another better, but I might as well stick with the way Rumiko intended it.

Other pairings I like include Shampoo/Mousse (for the simple purpose of getting them out of everybody's hair), Happosai/Cologne, and if it weren't for the fact that they're related: Kuno/Kodachi (they're both headcases).

Cologne and Happosai would be hilarious together, but I'm not to sure either side would like the arrangement.

 

Well, being the total yaoi perv that I am, I'll admit that I've given some thought to the idea of Ranma/Ryoga (which, I s'pose, would be yaoi AND het XD) - but that was waaaay back when I was new to anime, and I can't really say I cared all that much about it even then. Now, I don't really give two beans about Ranma pairings. ^^;

However, I WILL state that I think both Kuno and Ryoga would be sort of creepy-cute as participants in a m/m relationship, though probably not with each other. It would just make for good humor with Kuno and boy-type Ranma, particularly because Kuno's so damned DENSE, and overly dramatic. Ryoga... I dunno, he's sweet in that clueless way, and maybe it's because of that that I think he would potentially be cute with another male character (not sure who, though).

As for semi-canon couples, I'd have to say that I think Ukyo might have been a better match for Ranma. *shrug* But I can't deny that Ranma and Akane are meant for each other - since it's rumored that they'll marry in a later volume and all.

Random thought.. What about Kuno/Nabiki? XD Nabiki's not QUITE as mean as Kodachi, but she's certainly vicious enough to keep Kuno in line, and her shrewd mind and greed would be a good offset to his dramatics and stupidity. She'd be able to manipulate him to her heart's content, and he'd probably be totally happy because he either wouldn't know or wouldn't care. XD

and the others.... i really don't care since ranma & akane are my only favorite couple.

 

I gotta say that I like Ranma/Ukyou and Ranma/Akane. Before I didn't really like Akane before, especially the English dubbed version; she always sounded angry, but lately I've watched the japanese/english subbed version, and Akane really isn't that bad. I think the English voice actress just portrayed her really differently than the Japanese, so it affected how I thought of Akane. So now I'm okay with either
