Square Enix Favorite Team of Characters

Excluding Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (Which most everyone does), there are ten Final Fantasy games that have unique characters. Everyone has a favorite character or two, but which of the ten games do you think have the best overall team of heroes? Which group interacts the best? Which group has the best designs? Which have the most originality? Does the number of characters you get matter, and if so how much? All that good stuff.

To recap, here they are for you. Note that I didn't list characters that are in your group for an extremely short period of time (Like Biggs and Wedge from Final Fantasy VI).

Yeah, I'm pitiful. I haven't played many.

My best combat teams were:

7 -- Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie or Cloud, Tifa, Barett

8 -- Squall, Rinoa, Quistis

9 -- Zidane, Eiko, Garnet, Freya

10 -- Tidus, Auron, Yuna

Best designs were:

7 -- Aeris, Vincent

8 -- Zell, Selphie

9 -- Zidane, Garnet, Freya

10 -- Lulu, Rikku, Auron (Tidus looked sorta like a firefighter)

 

I accidentally voted for X. I meant IX, though. Vivi, Steiner and Amarant were ridiculously cool.
I would, however, like to ask where FFI was? I mean, miscellaneous Fighter, miscellaneous Monk, miscellaneous White Mage and miscellaneous Black Mage were a great team!

ff vii. everyone was just so cool.

and in ff, i had Fighter, Black Mage, Theif, White Mage.
fighter had the uber strength to make up for everyone, BM could take out large amounts of elemental stuff, theid can run away when you run into crap thatll pwn you, and white mage is support.

 

FF7 - Cloud/Cid/Barret(or Yuffie)

FF8 - Squall/Irvine/Zell(Or Rinoa)

I loved Setzer, Sabin, and Edgar so much. Imagine, attacking with playing cards! How amusing.

 

FFX - Yuna,Lulu and rikku/Auron. tee hee i like when rikku mixes 2 grenades on overdrive mode

 

My favorite teams were----
TACTICS: Ramza as either a Lancer or a Monk, Ninja, Priest, Summoner, and Geomancer.
VII: Cloud, Yuffie,Aeris and then Tifa after... **sniff sniff**
VIII: Squall, Zell, Rinoa
IX: Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner
X: Tidus, Yuna, Auron
TACTICS ADVANCE: Marche as Fighter (double sword with strikeback and Ayuvir Red and Ayuvir Blue), Ritz as Assassin (Ultima Masher!!), Hunter (Ultima Shot!!), Human Illusionist, Montblanc as anything, and Ninja (double sword)

 

Mine is VII all the way, i love the cast on it,

Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Barret, Vincent, Cid, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Red XIII

They all rule and Sephiroth is the best bad guy, hands down.

 

I voted for X cause of one person. AURON! I love him soo soo much! I love his design and his part in the game is so original. The rest are great too. I love Lulu and Rikku second, their designs are cool and i love their personalities. I like Tidus...but not in movie mode, he looks weird, i think.

But ff7 (being my first FF game) had an awesome cast too, Cloud and Sephiroth being tied as my favorites. I hated Tifa, but maybe cause I liked Aeris

My favorite battle teams:

7- Cloud, Barret, Yuffie or Vincent

8- Squall, Quistis, Zell

10-Tidus, Auron, Lulu/Wakka/Kimahri/Rikku/Yuna (depending on the fight, i changed them alot during the entire game )

Never played the other FF games.

 

You people who haven't played FF6 are totally missing out on some of the best character development that Square has ever had to offer.

Development wise, the SNES games, ie. FF4 and 6 had the best characters, simply because they didn't have the amazing graphics so they had to depend on an awesome storyline and characters.

Each character in FF6 is so unique and they all have a story, and little tidbits that you learn about them as you go throughout the game. FF4 had pretty good characters as well, but, not as amazing as FF6.

Anyway, as for personal favourites, FF9 is killer for characters. I love Vivi and Steiner, Freya absolutely kicks the crap out of anyone if you know how to use her properly. (I couldn't live without White Draw and Reis Wind [until I got Auto Regen on all my characters at least ])

FF8 has very good characters as well, Squall is arguably the most dynamic character Square has created to this day, as there is so much to him, more then is preceived by the eye.

FF7, well, not a big fan of this game, but it was touching when Aerith dies...(if you haven't figured that out yet, then you shouldn't be in this forum, hence the no spoiler. Apologize to anyone who has the game ruined for them because of this)

Tactics is also very good, it's just there is so many characters, so it's kinda hard to keep track on who does what, etc..

I haven't played FFX, since I don't own a PS2, but out of the ones I have played, I rank them as follows.

Heh, well, that's good.

It's pretty easy to get, if you have a PSOne, I suggest buying Final Fantasy Anthology. It comes with Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 5. FF5 is more based on the job system, ie: picking jobs, learning abilities, then going to a different job, mixing and matching your selected moves.

Final Fantasy 6 uses an Esper type system, basically equip the esper, learn the abilities associated to the type of Esper, and then equip a different one when you get the abilities you want.

For example, Shiva's esper will allow you to learn Ice, Ice 2, and Ice related moves, whereas someone like Siren will allow you to learn status changing moves.

All the moves are good, it's just some attack status, some benefit your own status, some heal and some are brutal magic attacks.

Best part is that everyone can learn whatever moves you want, no limitations in that matter.

Plus, with the amount of characters in the game, the battle combination possibilities are endless. It's a very long game too, play it when you got a lot of time on your hands.

Well I was never the biggest fan of II, VIII and IX (in fact, I disliked them greatly). To be biased, I could vote Tactics just because I absolutely love class-change. Though then again, I also liked the characters in tactics. Ramza Beoulve, Delita Hyral, Dycedarg Beoulve, Meliadoul Tingel, Izlude Tingel. And of course, my favorite character (next to Meliadoul); Wiegraf Folles.

Because of class change, I liked FFV as well, but I didn't really like the characters. Gilgamesh was all that I looked forward to in the game. (SPOILERS SORT OF: Especially at the end; those of you that played should know ;D)

FFVII had good characters, as well. Though, namely, I liked the Turks and Zack. (Yes, as you can tell, I really only like the characters you CAN'T play as).

Anyways... if I had to vote for my favorite group of playable characters, it'd have to be either Tactics or VI.

More specifically:

Tactics: Ramza, Beowulf, Meliadoul, Mustadio, Agrias, and Rafa.

VI: Setzer, Locke, Shadow (and Interceptor), Sabin, Gau, Celes and Edgar.

 

FF3/6- MOG, RELM, LOCKE, TERRA

FF7- CLOUD, YUFFIE, RED XIII


FF8- Tough one) SQUALL, ROANA, ZELL

FF9- ZIDANE, VIVI, FRAYA, EKIA

FF10- TIDUS, KIMARI, RIKKU

FFT- RAMZA (DRAGOON), A SUMMONER, A DANCER, A NINJA, A KNIGHT
(complactad set ups don't want to say)

FFTA- MARCHE (THIEF) (oops montblance died....)(ritz...maybe...)(shara..never) (BABUS...always) (cid...never got him...)

i liked gilamesh because he has the Genji equipment...yes that "spoiler" made it REALLY hard to get genji armour...
and besides you don't need his help anyway...

 

I've only played VIII so they're the only team I like the most. :sweat: Out of the characters Squall,Zell,and Rinoa are my best party. :anime:

 

I've Played pretty much all of them.. And still None of the characters well ever stand out more in my mind then VI. I mean each character has a story to tell. each had a unique fighting style.. and with those styles you could have 4 character who each could give massive blows to whom your fighting.

But i Must admit i did love the fact that in FFX you could change members during a fight.

FFVI = Been meaning to get round to completing it

FFVII = Cloud, Yuffie, Vincent (Always annoyed me that they didnt show up in the cut scenes, particulary the end)

FFVIII = Squall, Zell, Rinoa (Did replace Zell with Irvine up until the weapon battles... the boys gun was too slow!)

FFIX = Hated this game, completed it in 16hrs first(& final) time... couldnt be bothered remembering the people i used(Never even bothered with that hades one seeing as the rest was way to easy)

FFX = Rikku, Auron, Lulu (Occasionally swapped Rikku for Yuna for summons)

But best was FFVII

 

With pulse ammo, who cares if its slow... takes chunks of HP off and before you know it Bob's your uncle... killed quite a few bosses that Irvine ^^
