Recreation Fight Spam ..

I thought that's what the Miscellaneous forum was for - collecting all the stuff that doesn't really belong anywhere else, including spam-type threads, like the long-running jokes we had back in the day. I would say that in the other categories, spam must be taken care of, but in Miscellaneous, it would be hard to do.

 

I don't think the topic changing means it is spam.. not necessarily. Sometimes that just happens in conversation.

To me, spam is those one word responses, someone saying 'this sucks' or posting the same thing over and over. Ads are spam. Double posts are spam.

People just talking isn't usually spam. If we start mass deleting posts, we risk offending a lot of people, who just said what was on their mind.

I wish Legato's influence would just die.. I am sick of everyone worried to death about spam. It just doesn't happen that often.

 

My defenition of Spam is a one word post. Responding to a question with "I dont know" or "I dont have a clue". Posting twice in a thread and saying in the second post "Ohh .. i forgot to mention this" <-- I saw many of this type [dont worry I wont point out fingers] When I see those kind of posts. I just want to tell the person "Why didnt you edit in the things you "forgot" to mention?" :anger2: Please, post the right way, or I'll do the editing for you!!

but on the subject of fighting spam, i say Yes!!!
When we were poor, Spam (Spiced Ham) was our main staple. It SUCKED. Discontinue it, now.

But seriously, I dont really think that there is much noticable spam in the Misc Forum, because most of the Misc forum is exactly that: Spam. If we posted this anywhere else on this board, we would be Evil Eyed, yes? So lets have just an easygoing Misc forum, without true Spam (Advertisements and such by Newbies that will never ever post here again). How bout that?

MO - see above message to Zanza. Legato has already asked everybody to relax a bit. How come nobody listened to him when he was giving good advice?

 

i agree that spam is double posting ads short little posts stating im not posting etc and i also agree that this misc forum shouldnt be "cleaned up" as you say...the whole forum is not really spam bc they all have to do with the said topic be it "misc" or anything else...sure when people get stupid theres no reason not to use your powers but if were just talking er typing because we like to have human contact and response no need to delete a human beings right to express themselves...does that make any sense? i am all for killing all the true spam but removing the misc forum!! thats just harsh! im going to have to use a quote from a previous discussion "if you dont like it dont read it" or however that popular phrase went. thank you.

p.s. wasnt the misc forum kinda invented to cut down on spam in other boards? i mean if we lost this people would just spam elsewhere so...

 

hehe good point. I am usually lighter than helium, or at least I used to be before Legato showed up and criticized everything.

He did back off, and that's fine. His influence from before he did however is still there, and I still wish it would die. His influence from when he said lighten up etc is all good.
