What is your favorite fighting game?I would have to say either Street Fighter Alpha 3 or Super Smash Brothers Melee(if you can call it a fighter).

Of course!!! SF A3 and most SF games were the Gods of fighting games. Classic 2D fighting, I loved Akuma's and Evil Ryu's special move (Forgot what its called but I can pull it out lighting fast)

I also quite liked Pocket Fighter, but it has limited characters. Still funny game though.

Soul Calibur Was really good to the Dreamcast ( I want one now :( ). Other than that i enjoy the "bouncy" Dead Or Alive Games ;) and the always bloody Mortal Combats.

    !!!

Well i like all of the teken games because the graphics rock for most of them, and i like DBZ Hyper Dimension, just because its a classic. One of the new fighting games i just happen to own is Enter the Matrix and its hecka cool the graphicas are so realistic and the fighting couldn't be better. Oh its for PS2.

For fighting games, I cut my teeth on Mortal Kombat 2 and Street Fighter 2 (one of the million incarnations :p), both of which are classics and indisputable trend setters for the whole genre.

I've never been a heavy arcade-goer (never been within the vicinity of a decent one, and then without much cash), so I can only place faith in what I have played.

My current favorite fighter happens to be the original Marvel vs Capcom - played the second game for the first time about a year ago and made the mistake of challenging an experienced player - it will likely gain more favor when I actually get some sort of port of it...That explosive, button-crunching, flashy, sweet-looking style and familiar characters are what draw me to the game - that, and unleashing devastating combos.

    Runners Up:

Super Smash Bros. (never played Melee) - horribly addicting with a group of friends in a positive way (not like the horrible Mario Party sets).

Mortal Kombat Trilogy - the most complete collection of fighters and scenery. My fave of the series, and just before I believe MK went downhill...

Battle Sabers - the controls are horrid, the whole thing has the feel of rushed cheapness, lack of moves variety. In short, a big disappointment. But it's SMJ, so I put up with it all, tee-hee.

Yeah, Alpha 3 is awesome... my brother is freakin addicted... after three years, he knows every single move and how to pull it off on the Dreamcast D-Pad....

Dead or Alive spells out my name: Doa. 'Tis a shame it had to be so "bouncy".... *sigh*

I LOVE SOUL CALIBUR! XD Right on!

Our dearly departed Dreamcast, Ruler of all fighting game consoles, lives forever! *sniff*

You can also call Akuma's finisher the Raging Demon. Or, as I like to call it, Shun Goku Satsu. Which is pretty much a crap move, if you try any of its newer incarnations out. Too easy to counter, all you need is either a fireball, or a nice quick jab or short kick, and your troubles are over. Though, I must admit, trick teleporting then just on the whole doing it all over the screen (or switching short and long teleports) is pretty funny because they don't know where to block after a while....

I'm a DOA fan, but more of a DOAX fan than that. I'm more into 2d fighters, really. I guess I'm an old school fighter too.

I enjoy a few rounds of MvC2 or any of the versus series...but it gets too button mashy.

SFA3 is good, not too technical, and there's a player for every player type. Karen, Ryu, and Cammy were my protagonists, more often that not. Also like the fact that Cammy and Akuma were rather tricky too, if you must learn Cammy's Hooligan Combos and Akuma's "dash-jumps".

DOA is fun and all, but the technical side is severely buried, like in Tekken. There are counters for practically everything (which sucks because it makes the fights too long! SOME unblockables would be good, y'know...) but they're rarely used. Then again...Hitomi!! *drool* Kasumi! *DROOL* But, that's what I have DOAX for...

The Soul Series was fun, especially Soul Blade's Quest mode. But, it got taken out of Soul Calibre, I think, but is going to be reincarnated in II. I liked collecting the weapons, especially Hwang's Phantom. Hehehe. Thing was AWESOME! Kinda like the Tenchi-ken. It also had it's chicks.

Guilty Gear is great in that it reminisces the old school with the heavy rock. Good. But sometimes, you just gotta wonder if anyone really does use those Roman Cancel's and the fact that not one person I played against actually knew there were KILL moves and air-combos....o_O Well, that, and Testament scares me. ^_^ So does that final maid in that little girl's KILL move. Then again, I have this game for my GBA, so it's good too. ^_^

Smash Bros Melee....party game, and nothing else.

    Tekken...see Dead or Alive.

    Virtua Fighter...see Dead or Alive/Tekken

Pocket Fighter is fun! Hehehe, I always picked Felicia since she has the MegaBuster as one of her attacks. Well, either her or Sakura. Anyway, good for a laugh...I wonder if they'll make THIS for the GBA...

War of the Robots...this thing was CRAP. Anyone remember this crap title from the SNES days? It was CGed when CG was done like...SF the Movie. Hehehehe, but it was cool because it had all those (although crap done) FMVs featuring industrial...stuff. Plus, the blue guy you played as had a cool looking gimp. Y'know, because super-androids from the future HAD to have gimps. It's advanced that way.

King of Fighters made the "vs." genre, in my opinion. It was the unrefined version of it. It made it fun because you can build a custom team. Plus, it had Mai! Hehehe. Then again, Athena became annoying after '96. Oh, yes, include Fatal Fury on this too. I always did think that Andy Bogard's Shadow Splitter was an awesome and unbeatable move... Terry's shouts were cool too, best I've heard when I was a lad. "Crack Shoot!" "Buuuurn Nakuru!!!" ^_^

Samurai Shodown!!! Oh my!!!! I think this was the one that made me shiver everytime I got the chance to play it. It was only seen in my neighborhood in one of those asian markets. Well, at least until it became REALLY popular. I was always using Nakoruru, Hanzo, Galford, Ukyo, and that one fellow who was wearing a hakama with pink hair. He was cool. Then Hanzo starting really sucking after II.

Ranma ½ was okay. At least it allowed me the oppurtunity to actually bash Ranma with a mallet. They actually released that game here, before anime was popular. They redid some graphics and renamed the game though. Cool thing was, they kept the Panda. So you could have always played as Genma, at the very least.

All those were fun, in their own little ways. Like War of the Robots, with the "cool" main character. Hahahaha. And who can ever get enough of crap gameplay!? My favorite among favorites though, would have to be the Rival Schools series. I mean, yeah, the fighting engine was pure capcom, but it's fun. It's also a "serious" game with storylines. BUT!!! The fights were always fun to watch. You got Baseball Players, Soccer Players, photography club members, coaches, etc. *AND* you had cool whacky finishing moves for some of them. Like the double attack with the Tennis player...the other player would hold you down on the ground, while the girl would keep hitting the ball at your face, and smashing it in for the final hit. I mean, what's NOT funny about that?

Oh..yeah, hitting a home run with the bad guy. That's also funny. ^_^

EDIT: ah yes, forgot to metion the Street Fighter EX+ Alpha series. That was fun, with the "pseudo 3d" world of SF. I think it predated Rival Schools. But, the best part was Skullomania's "Raging Demon". Hehehe, he was a laugh riot, tbh.
