What you think of the new system, and the fact that you cant summon any sort of creature???

Since in X-2, you have to worry about when the enemy will attack and they attack alot, i love the turns in X. But, on the upside, X-2's dress system is really cool!

I like X's battle system the best. That and Tactics, but that's only because that's my favorite FF game.

I like the idea of not using summons (I found that a lot of times they were less useful than plain physical attacking). I also like the fact that the active time system lets enemies attack you faster; it feels more realistic than the enemies waiting for you to have your turn. I don't like the fact that sometimes it's too fast, with enemies getting a few too many turns before you can do something -- but that's all part of thinking on your feet, which is what the system is intended to make the player do. Overall, I like it, and I think it makes for some fun battles. X's system was a little easier to deal with, but X-2 is a nice change.

I like the old system and I like the new system.
The old turn-based system of X wasn't as "actiony" as the real-time one is X-2 XD.

And I think the special dress sphere's make up for summons, doesn't any1 agree?
I pwned some of the harderst enemies with those godly spheres.

    (SPOILERS AHOY!)

I'm in Chapter 5, at the point where you need to decide which hole to jump in to.. and I have only used the special dress-spheres twice. :p Once Yuna's and once Rikku's; when I first got them, just to see what they were. I never did get Paine's, but, it seems like I didn't really need it. :p But oh well, s'a little too late now.

Well, i only got it on Sunday, And yeah, Fuuma, i agree with you, the awsomeness of dresspheres makes up for not being able to summon.

I am kinda mad that the very first time you go through Zanarkand, you dont get to keep the sphere or get a new dress sphere for it. And i spent a lot of time building up for Zanarkand!

I got FFX-2 yesterday. I'm at chapter 2 so far (I hate having to choose which way the story goes instead of just having one path...it always makes me think what could've happen if i went the other way).

The battle system is pretty different and cool, but i kinda miss the summonings. Especially from FFX..I love that game!! I was kinda surprised not to see them .

It does tick me off that eveything is soo hard and fast. But i guess i should go to other places instead of the Hotspots and get use to it and get stronger (even regular monsters are kicking my butt!).

Actually, in case you miss anything, FFX-2 takes a page from Chrono Trigger and after you beat the game, you get New Game +. Kinda useless for the idiots who go everywhere in the FIRST place (namely me), but it's cool because you can have all your stuff earlier. Monsters are always kinda hard, probably something to do with a more involved battle system. It's more active...and you can deter that by setting it in Wait Mode. But, that's like, half the fun.

And you do see the aeons. Just...not the way YOU want. ^_^

Oh, and a nonlinear (many choices for the story to go) is what makes an RPG an RPG. I consider FFX to be a...semi-advanced beginner's RPG. Great story, but it nearly does itself in like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. You get everything handed to you on a Silver Platter. At least with X-2, you'd have to fight quite a bit to win. *Shudders at fighting that big-aspspspspspspspsspsps fiend in the desert*

I also like how the game is dependent on patience as well. In order to get better abilities, you'll have to fight. But in order to fight, you'll have to be patient because the better abilities take AGES to learn.

It took me a while to get used to X-2's battle system, since I was so used to X's. But I've gotten used to them, and I love them both ^_^ The dress spheres make up for the aeons. Just too bad we have to fight the aeons now ^^v The %'s are giving me a headache, though. I'm trying so hard to get 100%

    The Best Yet!

I think it's wonderful. The best yet because in one hour you can go through almost 5x as many battles than with the old FF systems. It's faster and it's easy after you get use to it. At first you don't know what's going on. But later it doesn't really matter. You get use to it. You learn to differenciate between the enemies and characters. I simply love it.

Before, on FFX you had to sit through painful HOURS and hours of flashing lights and bright screens and ayeons flying around and Yuna petting them or sitting on their shoulder and then climbing down  Now all those bright colored moves all happen at the same time. Thus shortening the time spent having to sit through all of them. That was a great idea.

Ummm...not too fond of it, actually. It feels like FF for ADD and drug addicts. While I have yet to warm up to it, I'm reluctant to switch the option from active to wait, as I have not done that in any FF game to date.

Everything is so sped up that one can't take the time to strategize to much. It's a lot of frantic button pushing and memory work as I rush to set my characters' actions. While FFX's system was far too lenient with allowing a full party participation (which surprisingly still balanced combat), FFX-2 seems to be almost degenerating from standard FF format into an action game. All we need now is some kind of "Auto Attack" and we can be completely out of the battle... :(

My favorite is still the old active time battle. You get burned if you take too long to act, but you don't have to race to do it, either.

It's like the old-school ATB battles on speed. My only real complaint is that since the battles move so fast I don't really think about my moves. I pretty much just end up attacking everything because I get smoked if I take the time to scroll through a menu to find the ability I want. That, and it takes way too long to use certain abilities.

    I don't like it either.
I think that the enemies move to fast so you have'nt any time to think about what your doing and how to plan out your next move. And because the enemies move so fast your always in a rush to get things done before the enemy attacks next and this can be a total nightmare when tring to revive somebody whos been KO'd or if your tring to heal somebody in the middle of battle.
Although i do like the way people move around the battle field, and not just stay in the same spot for the whole battle.
