  1. OK, I know Osamu Tezuka did the cover for Tomita's Firebird LP. But
did Tomita do the music for Tezuka's Firebird ("Phoenix 2772")?

As for the *Japanese* cover art, thats actually news to me since I've
rarely seen the Japanese pressing. I'm just used to to the red inset on
    white background American cover art.

A quick look at the IMDB reveals

Yasuo Higuchi did that particular one.

I think the TV series circa 1986 was done by Fumio Miyashita, Kitaro's
1970s synth playing bandmate in the Far East Family Band and one of the
founders of the Healing Music genre. - So that album is mildly sought
    after being a synth soundtrack.

As for Tezuka stuff, also in '86 one of the originators of technopop,
Hajime Tachibana, who's sort of a graphic designer at heart did the real
weird ocncept of putting out a 12" single with no music on one side.
Instead he let Tezuka design a raised image to be pressed into the vinyl
filling one face of the record

Tomita seems to have stopped scoring for Tezuka after the 1970 release
of the R-Rated style "Cleopatra, Queen of Sex". So it was pretty much a
1960s era teamup. Except of course for the posthumous "Jungle Emperor Leo".

In the back of my mind I keep thinking he may have done the 1987 short
"Mori No Densetsu" (Legend of the Forest) because that was supposedly in
the works for many years, but I'm not finding music credits for that
one. I might be wrong here.

Thanks. For some reason I never think of the IMDB.

The score for that one was Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony, performed by the Tokyo
Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kenichiro Kobayashi.
