You've just got to love it, if only for the sheer brilliance of the soundtrack :D

Whoo, the Esca forum is up!

I agree that it has a great soundtrack, but everything else is well-rounded, too -- story, animation, characters, VAs, etc. I have a soft fuzzy spot for the series over the movie, since the series had that oddly cute "my nose can poke out your eye" issue.

Shame on you! Fie! Fie! :p

I saw that the forum was open a while ago, but I was waiting for the Esca mods to realize it so they could have the honor of the first post. Perhaps something like the standard "Series Info" thread. Oh well, what's done is done. ^_^

Escaflowne's soundtrack is one of the best, if not the best, soundtrack of any anime I've seen so far. The reason for that is because it comprises one of the best composer/song-artist combinations in anime history: Yoko Kanno for composer and Maaya Sakamoto for the song-artist, my favourite composer and song-artist respectively. Casting them together was sheer genius! ^_^

    — C-chan, who goes back to trying to design a theme for the Esca forum. ^_^

I WAS gonna do that, but why not wait for the other members to make the first post? :p

Oh yes, the soundtrack is great, Hitomi's seiyuu Maaya Sakamoto is like a goddess. :)

W00t! *does the happy dance of Escaflowne's greatness to "Shadow of a Doubt"*

I love Escaflowne's music. As stated above, my favorite is Shadow of a Doubt, but I also like the theme (can't remember what it's called off the top of my head). I can't wait for the conversations to start!

    The theme song you mean?

That would be Yakusoku wa Iranai. :)

Heh, it's looking that way, Seraphim. I'll have to put my two cents in as far as the music of Escaflowne goes; it's beautiful. I love how each country has its own flavor, as it were.

I'm not one of the people who thinks that Yoko Kanno is the be all and end all of composers, but she definitely is one of the top ten in her field.

It's difficult to say which of the Escaflowne songs is my favorite. There are so many wonderful ones!

"Cat's Delicacy"? I don't believe I've heard that. Or did you mean, "Neko no Kimochi"? Funny, I always thought it meant "A Cat's Feelings". I loved that song, too. ^_^

To be honest, I love everything about the Escaflowne soundtrack, even the weird 'Engrish' ones like "Perfect World". But when it comes to best soundtrack played in the series, it would have to be "Tomodachi", which was the song on the CD Hitomi found in the bazaar. Why? For one thing, I love that song, and another is the timing and the appropriateness of the relevant scenes. The flashbacks, the soft music... it all brought a sense of nostalgia and homesickness — which is precisely what Hitomi was feeling. The ability to convey emotion so accurately is what I consider a mark of a good BGM. ^_^
