What are your opinions on Gundam Seed's Flay? Do you think she is a maniac, or is she just a hurting girl who is misunderstood?

    The following may contain ***spoilers***

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS - UP UNTIL THE LAST EPISODE***

It was clear she hated coordinators, but she held this all inside until both Lacus's arrival and death of her father (which happened simultaneously) that her grudge was apparent... and grew. So much that she even sold herself to Kira from Sai in order to carry out her scheme. I.e. hunt down all other coordinators. On this basis I would classified her as a b****. And she continued to act this way until she was isolated from the pack, i.e. At Zaft.

At Zaft she comtemplated her actions, and was silenced for the second half of the series. I thought that being all miss 'popular' among her friends, she just wasn't used to being alone and strongly needed to be with people she knew of. In a sense I think she regretted her doings whilst being at Zaft. It was apparent that she missed the people at Archangel, shown when she was relieved to see Natarle in Dominion... a person who she isn't even very familiar with. So, even people like Natarle, then why not Kira... A person who she has shown some affection to despite all the hatred. Didnt get enough screen time in the latter (as mentioned before) to clear up any of her misconceptions. Just ended up being sympathized for her death.

All in all, I thought Fllay is a 'bad luck' character and happened to end up at the wrong place at the wrong time... Caught up in the war, serving in Earth's 1st class battleship - Archangel, losing his dad, captured by Zaft, used as bait to enchance the war and eventually dying needlessly. Sad really.

So, maniac... yes to a certain extent but understandable, hardly compared to Krueze - the real psycho. Misunderstood, also yes to a certain extent. Though the makers didn't build on this all too well.
