Escaflowne For Hitomi: Van or Allen

Who do you think would be better for Hitomi? Let's say you haven't seen the ending yet, and don't know who Hitomi originally picked in the end so who would be better?

Allen: who is strong, caring, looks pretty, has skill, and has good manners, and is a knight.

or

Van-Sama: who's more closer to Hitomi's age, a king, CAN be a nice guy, he cares, not a playboy, loyal, and determined.

o___O yes, this is a dumb topic, i know, but i'm in a lil' attempt to bring back alive this forum.

 

*bites wing goddess* Allen is NOT a playboy. >=P Three relationships do not make someone a playboy, dammit.

But to answer the question... Van, easily. Allen may seem perfect at first, but he's hardly the flawless knight he seems. He was interested in Hitomi and Millerna for all the wrong reasons, and he couldn't be right for either of them without getting closure on and coping with his various emotion issues. Van, at least, was genuinely attracted to Hitomi for honest reasons - not that Allen was deceitful, just that he didn't have a good sense of his own motives.

 

Well, it would be interesting to see Allen and Hitomi together. However, I think that pairing would be very bad for both parties in the long run. Allen, as a knight, has very set views when it comes to women. They should be feminine, they should need to be protected, and they should agree with him. When it comes right down to it, Allen very much wants the damsel in distress to his knight in shining armor. There are times when Hitomi fills this role, but most of that is not her personality so much as her age and relative maturity.

Hitomi may think she wants the knight in shining armor that Allen represents. He's an older man who has expressed interest in her. He's attractive, and he certainly knows how to take care of a girl. But as she grows up it's highly likely that she'll start feeling stifled. By and large, Hitomi does not make a very convincing damsel in distress. If she has to continue playing that role she will be unhappy.

Van, on the other hand, doesn't want (or need) a damsel in distress. He wants somebody he doesn't have to worry about. This is why Merle is not a good match for him. Yes, she can stand up for herself, but she really does prefer to be protected. She's more of a little sister, anyway. Hitomi, although not a native of Gaia, has demonstrated the ability to take care of herself in most situations. Another big thing in Hitomi's favor is that she doesn't care that Van is the king. Everyone else that Van associates with gives him at least some deference because of his rank. Hitomi speaks her mind and is quite willing to tell Van off when he's being an idiot.

So yeah, I have to say that Hitomi and Van make the best pairing because they are most suited to each other.

Like everyone else in this thread, I'd say Vahn and Hitomi. (But it's different you see, because I spell Vahn with an H. ^.~)

I think Allen and Hitomi are the way most people see Merle and Vahn- brother and sister. It dosen't seem like an intimate relationship...
But Dilandau and I beat that topic to death in another thread, so I'll spare you and not type six paragraphs here. ^_^

As far as Allen goes I think he is a little troubled. He has bad luck with woman so many times. It is like he purposely falls for those he cannot have.

Now Van on the other hand is a little immature when it comes to expressing himself. It takes a big slap in the face to tell him how he actually feels.

When I look at both I say neither. She can't be with them. Both Van and Hitomi are okay with that but I am not. Love is supposed to last. They say that they won't forget about each other but how could they not? They are far away living seperate lives. Adventually they will fall in love with someone else. I guess love it that way sometimes. And they both have accepted it from what I could tell.
