For the sake of tradition...

... I've decided to introduce myself here. Rather belated, I know. I'm not usually the type to post introductions, especially in a forum as ominously titled as "Newbies", but boredom makes us do strange things. ^_^

So, let's begin. ^_^

Hi! My name's Carolyn Chan, or C-chan for short. Chinese (as if you can't tell from the name), and twenty-three years old (yep, an oldie! ^^). My hobbies include literature, art, and music. Okay, okay! To be honest, I just write a little, am capable of making some chicken scratchings with a pen, and play a little bit of the guitar and piano (the alley cats are my biggest fans ^_^).

Anime has been my second love since I first got introduced to it many years ago. I can't even remember what the first anime I ever saw was, but I do know that it was Ranma 1/2, DBZ and Sailor Moon that fostered my growing attraction to it (Sounds familiar? Those three apparently have been the inspiration of many an otaku ^_^). My obsession with anime is rather recent though, starting around five or so years ago.

My love affair with anime reached a turning point when I discovered something so wonderful, that I was stunned by its sheer brilliance. That something was the Internet. It began with a simple search for Ranma 1/2 song lyrics, but eventually led me on a wild chase through the whole of animedom. It was through this medium that I learned of other, more wonderful anime just waiting out there for me. I'm afraid the disease has caught on; my sister and brother have fallen to the dark side of otaku-hood.

My arrival in M2A was rather serendipitious. I've been a member of anime forums before — in fact, I still am, on and off. Being a regular posting member on some and a mod on others, my time was rather filled up and I wasn't really searching for another. But I was in the process of writing a fanfiction story and during one of my searches for background material, I wound up here, and here I've stayed. ^_^

Now, about myself. I'm a party kind of girl (so they say). While it's true that I do love to have a good time, I'm not all that wild about it. Perhaps it's the fact that I dress almost always in scant black clothing, with a touch of black leather on occasion, that makes peole say I'm a bit wild. Or perhaps it's my fascination with street-sport motorcycles (I'd love to have a Suzuki Katana someday ^_^). But a girl who listens to classical and instrumental music and reads the works of literary greats of the past can't be that wild, can she? Or maybe I'm just confused. Heh. ^_^

I've been in M2A for more than a month or so, and while the posts aren't usually the kind I'm used to (I hail from a much stricter crowd), the place does seem like fun and I believe I'll stay. I'm mostly a lurker though, so don't expect a lot of posts from me. What I have to say, I say infrequently, though when I do I tend to be a bit long-winded. In any case, I'll stick around and see how things work out. ^_^

Oh, and before I forget... I make siggies, which is entirely the fault of M2A (I wouldn't have needed siggies otherwise), and I've created a special siggy just for this introduction. That's me in the sig, if you look closely. ^_^

[Edit: Gah! I really, really hate typos! A spell-checker is useless when the typo is a real word, since it doesn't check grammar (well, it does, but it's not that reliable). Scanning the post myself seems to be the best option, but familiarity dulls my attentiveness, and occasionally a few will slip through. You can expect me to edit my posts occasionally should a typo come to annoy me. ^_^]
