freelancer is the win.

While buzzing around one day I spotted this ship and formed up with it for protection while travelling. Check out the name of it

Shot's a bit dim unfortunately, I was in a nebula

 

and one more for Kinryuu, the otaku formerly known as Finster.

 

Voices I've recognized in the game:

Jeremy Irons (Scar from the Lion King) has a two line cameo.

John Rhys Davies (known to many as Gimli the dwarf from LOTR) has a large role.

I'll bet some other well known people are in there too, but they're harder to pick out, as not many people have voices as distinct as Jeremy Irons and John Rhys Davies (samples of their lines in the game in the zip)

 

A friend of mine who has been playing the beta really loves the game. What are the system reqs gonna be like?

With a dearth of relatively 'hard' (not hard as in difficulty, hard as in highly detailed) space sims on the market these days, I've been looking to scratch my itch. I can only play Freespace 2 and Klingon Academy for so long.

And yes, I played Starlancer. I was up to the last 3 missions, then my computer crashed and I had to reformat my drive. Not a bad game, Starlancer. a little too much repetition in mission styles, really, but still good fun. Especially the mission where you attack the Soviet super-ship.

 

Tobias, played by John Rhys, was great.. I needed the money he gave me to buy that new ship. I was getting my butt kicked with the ship I had then.

I beat the campaign, it took me about a week and a half and now it's back to freelancin'. So I kept on going from this station near Stuttgart to Leeds shipping 250 diamonds in the humpback freighter and I was making like 230,000 a round! The Heissian ships in Rheinland kept on attacking me too and they annoyed the crap out of me, but now.. haha, I made a million credits and bought a Titan(the best ship in the game) and got the best shields, weapons and I'll see to it that all Heissians are eliminated.


I've been playing this game way too much.. but then again I didn't have internet for a while either.
