Fruits Basket fruits basket...gayish?

    please tell me if there is gay activity in futher episodes of these series, for what i have seen there are a couple of homosexuals in there, and i really don't like that:rolleyes:

    ps. i have nothing against gay people, i just dont like seeing them:D so please, avoid pointless discussions[​IMG]

    Well, there is a bit of "gayish" stuff going on in there. The most obvious would be the Mabudachi trio of Shigure, Ayame and Hatori. They often make remarks that would make people think they are gay(read: foolish people), but they're only joking about it. Hatori definately isn't gay, I'm fairly sure Shigure isn't, Ayame is a bit more difficult to judge. Other characters that might be gay(but I don't neccesarily think are) are Rin and Momijo, because they cross dress, and Akito because of his fascination with Yuki.

    Considering what the target audience is, I think it was almost unfathomable not to put shounen-ai innuendo into the series, even it was *the* most popular running show in Japan (at 75% ratings!!) during its television run. Look at all the widely known shoujo anime out there...Sailor Moon (Yaten and the Starlights, etc), Cardcaptor Sakura (Touya and Yukito), Fushigi Yuugi (Nuriko and Hotohori...didn't they kiss!?), etc. They all have some form of a bit of innuendo towards male homosexuality. Then again, two out of the four mentioned also show signs of FEMALE homosexuality.

    In Japan, it seems to be more a part of everyday thinking, than it is the blatant disdain for it here.

    But, yes, none of the furuba cast seem to be actually homosexual, just act more girlishly than you'd expect a guy to act. read: Yuki and Momiji. ^_^

    i think they just act like metrosexuals, lol, thats the new term for it right? its a good series, and yes homosexuality is not taboo it seems, thats cool with me, lol

    I don't really think there's that much gay activity is Fruits Basket. Yes, there are lots of pretty men, but it doesn't make them gay right off the bat.

    Hatori is most defintely not gay!

    Shigure jokes about it, but so do lots of people.

    Ayame might be bi, but then again he might not.

    Haru's love of Yuki is a bit weird, but I think it's more an emotional attatchment than passionate longing.

    Akito and Yuki is in my opinion more a sadistic dominance.

    But if they are gay it doesn't make me think any less of the character!

    How so true!! No ones really gay in this series. Ayame and Shigure may act like it but I'm quite sure they are just joking. Through the 12 volumes I have read I haven't seen anything scandlous. THANK GOODNESS!! Akito just has a mental very scary experience on Yuki and Yuki somewhat dispises Akito!! Akito whipped him when he was young!!! Poor Yuki!! My YUKI!!!! Yeah and did you know his mother wasn't all that kind either? No wonder he can get such a cold look in his eyes!!! NO GAYNESS IN THIS SERIES!!!Okay? Heehee ja ne!
