Anime Full Metal Panic

Am I the only one who has seen this anime? It's about a mecha pilot named Sagara Sousuke. He is assigned to protect high school student Kaname Chidori from a mysterious organization who wants her because she may be one of a group of special humans known as "the Whispered" because they have special knowledge of ultra high-tech gadgets (including the mechs known as "Arm Slaves") buried deep in their minds.

From my earlier description,it's obvious that Sousuke does more than merely pilot an Arm Slave. It turns out that he's part of a super-secret paramilitary organizaiton known as "Mythril," charged with maintaining order and stability in the world by performing various missions such as taking out terrorist organizations (where were they on 9/11?) and stamping out drug smuggling,among other activities.

I've watched the first 7 episodes of FMP.... very cool series

 

I saw the first episode today, as UrashimaKeitaro's been getting a lot of new stuff recently in a mad MIRC rush with the new season in Japan (I'm pushing for Abenobashi Maho Shotengai, and the more stuff is available on his server, the more likely it is people will send him what I'm interested in). And, anyway, the resolution was too high to run smoothly on his computer, so we had to crunch it to VCD...

Where was I?

Oh yeah, Full Metal Panic, saw the first ep, had slight trouble as it's a Gonzo production, but the CG/2D clash wasn't as bad as I was expecting, so they're getting better. Plot seems quirky and funny having Sousuke try to fit into a school to protect that girl, but he does such a bad job of being undercover because he doesn't really try to hide his soldier-self at all.

Anyhow, that's all I know. Except that the subtitle of the time/place stamp read 'Havarosk Region' and I was like, don't you mean 'Khabarovsk'? But that's only because I've been over there in the Russian Far East, and I'm kinda picky.

And ADV officially confirmed today they've got the US license for this one too. Looks like Gonzo is the hot property these days.

BTW,there is a certain level of ecchiness in Full Metal Panic,one episode involves Sousuke trying to defend Kaname from the "threat" of a panty-raider...turns out the kid was put up to it by some "friends" at schools. And when Kaname steps out of the shower...well,it's the standard awkward situation that the female lead completely misreads

Yeah,that's an error on the part of the fansubbers...not like they haven't done it before (J to X ep. 13 comes to mind,as well as ep. 3 of Battleflag of the Stars)

I've seen the first three episodes and I really like it, but there is something missing!
Well, I like the idea of the story, the characters unique personalities [espically kurz's ego ] and the way the had the main female character act like a snob!

ive seen only 5 episodes from it..its great & i want to see the rest of it..

 

If anyone has the FMP series complete and wants to trade for it give me a buzz. I've got a decent sized list of fansubbed stuff to trade with.

I know it's available online but since I'm on 56K dial up, so trading is a much cheaper and better option.

 

Naah, I don't get the 'something missing' thing. FMP is one of my favourites. It ain't Trigun but it's meccha sugoi nonetheless. It's a brilliant combination of humour (all the stuff in the school, the beyond-hysterical episode where Sagara tries to learn how to date with the same sort of intensity he applies to using military ordnance.....funny, funny stuff) and drama. Can't wait to see more.

 

I love that show....sadly I dont have a lot of them so can someone gimme some or tell me a SITE (not a d/l network) on where to get it.....PLEASE

 

Ya i'll agree this show rocks...Although I can't remember what eposide I was on...It does have something missing...Oh and Musashi you make yourself desperate if you want it that bad I'll ask BakaMattSu to burn you some...of course I can only do this before August 31 keep in mind

 

i've seen up to ep 17 of this anime,, and I really wanna see the rest it's great so far

 

I've only seen the first few episodes of this series, although it is great so far from what I've seen. I like it how Sagara is extremely paranoid in the school and plows down that one teacher And also how everyone else tries to be ecchi around Sagara but he's too innocent to figure it out
