So I went to see the premiere of HP4 last night with some friends..... and to be quite honest, the idea of staying out all night at the movies on a school night was a helluvalot more exciting then the movie itself, but more on that later.
(Edit: Gah, guys, I'm so sorry! Blanket spoiler warning on this whole thing, hope it isn't too late for anyone.....)

The movie started at midnight (started seating by 11, though). We got there at 9. Why? I have no idea. 'Twas fun, though.... people were camped out in front of the theater on picnic blankets in Slytherin scarves and Gryffindor jackets and I don't even know what else. One girl swore that she was wearing a pair of Harry Potter underwear, but I wasn't sure whether to believe her or not. We played some poker, drank espresso shots 'till we were bouncing off the walls, staged huge soap opera moments in hearing range of total strangers just to see their reactions, picked up sticks off the ground and tried to have a wizards duel... fun stuffs ^^. Can't say I wasn't glad when they opened the doors, though... anyway, onto the stuff you guys actually give a crap about, the movie.

Honestly, it wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be, but it was much better then I expected it to be. The only things that *really* disappointed me were

    - Sirius Black only made one appearance, and it was just his head in a fire, nothing else.

    - No Dobby. No Trelawney. No Peeves. No mention of any of them.

    - They took all of the beasts out of the maze. Instead, there were just killer bushes. .... That's all.

    - Voldemort looked.... well, like I imagine Michael Jackson might look in 20 years. I mean, if I saw him walking down the sidewalk, I'd cross the street, but.... he just wasn't frightening to me. Iunno.

    - They covered the first 200 pages of the book in under 5 minutes, yet they managed to stretch the Harry vs. Dragon scene out for 10. Cool looking? Oh yeah. Neccesary? Not really.

    - Ludo Bagman was *INSANE*. I mean, not that he wasn't in the book, but..... it's just hard to explain if you haven't seen the movie. I couldn't help but laugh at him, though =P

    - I felt that they could've done more with Moody's eye..... but that could just've been me.

    On the other hand....

    - The Yule Ball was done *SO* well.... seriously, it's worth going to the movie just to see that. The decorations were just what you'd expect them to be, Ron looked like a penguin in his dress robes, and Hermione was a vision in pink ^^. Couldn't help but laugh at the G-rated dancing, though XP

    - Special effects = really, really good.

    - Lots of LOL moments... much moreso then the last 3.

I'd encourage you to go see it, but be warned, if you haven't read the book, it won't make *any* sense at all. You just can't cram a 734 page book into a 2 1/2 hour movie without cutting a *lot*, and unfortunately, some of what they cut was pretty important.

OH, and Rita Skeeter was AWESOME. But we never did find out what happened to her in the movie....

And I <3 Snape. I really do. I wish he could've made more appearances =(

Anyway, once the movie was over, we were the only ones who stayed in the theater to watch the credits.... we went up to the projection box and made shadow puppets on the screen, which was fun, and waltzed around the theater and tried to find hidden passages in the walls ^^. But when we actually got home, it was almost 3 in the morning, and Kei (friend of mine that I was staying over with) kept me up until about 4:30.... she got to stay home today, lucky girl T_T I, however, had to go to school on an hour and a half of sleep, and now I'm exhausted, so I'ma end this here and go to sleep. Or at least try.
