piracy is a thing that is growing in society... as i read on a web page:

"i wasn't going to buy the game. So whats the problem of copying that game?..."

What lame excuse is that?? just because he was not going to buy the game doesn't give him the right to copy... if he wasn't going to buy the game, he wasn't going to play it also... so that is not an excuse....
the piracy as many points of view. as some of you know, it's allowed to make a copy of a game if you have the original, for safe keeping of the game that may suffer scratches or other bad luck. so why do they make those strong defences and copy protections on the cds and dvds??????
the games shouldn't be allowed to be copied even for a backup.
the games should have a warranty like Pcs have and when that warranty is over, if you scratch the game you have to buy another copy of the game.
but the problem is that over the years the games stop being made and that may be a problem.
what are your opinions related to this subject????? :)

The game publishers trample all over fair use, making it nigh impossible to make backups.

Copy Protection has really run amok lately. There are many instances when people who download the game have an easier time playing it than people who buy it. Steam (like it or hate it) causes issues with a lot of people, but people who download a cracked version don't have to worry about it at all. It's pretty sad. Copy protection programs are occasionally incompatible with certain OSs or configurations and the game has to be cracked to be played.

If the copy protection is so good, why do patches to some games remove it? Some of theUnreal games come to mind. At first they require a disk, but later patches remove that requirement.

Thing is, people will always be able to crack games. When they do, people download those cracked versions. All restrictive copy protection does is make things inconvenient for people who actually paid for the game, and drive away potential customers. I will never buy Half Life 2, thanks to Steam.

Yea, well, what are you gonna do. The days are changing, and so are games, if you kinda think about it, it's only gonna get worse. But eh, don't always follow my words, they're just my opinion.....
