    Title Name: Gantz (Anime)

    Author's Name: Hiroya Oku

    Status: Complete with 26 Episodes
    Licensed: By ADV Films
No. Of Volumes: There will be 10 volumes. Volume 10 is available 1/17/06.

    Genre: Drama, Horror, Psychological, Shounen
Target Audience: Mature (May contain sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence)

Plot Summary: Somewhere in Tokyo, there is a room. In that room is a black sphere. The name of the black sphere is Gantz. No one knows what it is or where it comes from. All they know is that it brings the dead to play a “game” of unprecedented danger and horror.

This is where are main character comes in, Kei Kurono. He is a typical high school student in a selfish world, not caring about anyone other than himself. However, he was forced to help out his childhood friend, Katou Masaru, rescue a drunkard who fell into subway tracks, both he and Katou were killed... Or maybe not. After being run over by the train, they were suddenly teleported to an enclosed apartment with others who recently died. And now their lives are controlled by the mysterious black sphere.

Inside the room they get their missions from Gantz. They also receive special suits and weapons. While these missions take place, the rest of the world is largely oblivious to them. These missions are lethal - few participants survive them. The sphere calls the shots, and it's not the slightest bit nice.

Conclusion: The first episode will make you ask what the hell is going on. The next episode will get you hooked. The story is original. There is nothing that could come close.

The characters go threw plenty with Gantz at the helm. They battle aliens like in a game format complete with weapons, and suits. For them it is survival. If they don't follow Gantz rules they are dead. They don't know the rules. They need to learn them by trial and death.

The anime is cut a little short and the storyline changes. But it is still interesting. If you have checked out the manga you should check this out. Only draw back is that it is a little spendy. Some dvds have 2 or 3 episodes on them. If you have the cash or have some good friends. ;) Watch it you will like it. I can guarantee that.

Author's other Works: HEN, Zero One, and Strange Love Mangas
