    Client Name: That guy!

Summary of Mood: I'm feeling rather lazy, but I want to get my work over with and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Presenting Situation: No matter how hard I try I can't seem to pull myself away from reading www.megatokyo.com, and watching Stargate, even though I need to try to keep up with readings and journal entries for my course.

On Monday this week I went back to my social work placement at the Multicultural Council (MCC), I had not been there for a month due to Christmas holiday and my exam period. I was glad to be back there but I knew that this semester would entail a greater work load for me. I spent the morning shadowing a client meeting that my field supervisor had, while performing some research into job counselling. I discovered that my agency previously had a volunteer teach computer workshops to immigrants, but this had not been done for quite a few years. Since I have mad c0mput3r skillz I offered to help out. I had never taught before so this would be an interesting experience, I wonder if I can handle it. I will only be teaching the basics though, such as how to use Microsoft Word to type up a resume. I'll need to evaluate the effectiveness of the workshop afterwards, and my own effectiveness as a teacher. If I rock at this I might obtain a summer job. But, on the side I'll be performing a needs assessment of MCC's clients this semester, working with clients individually to help them look for a job, visiting other agencies in my city to learn what they have to offer, performing research for my school, and more all in my two days a week there. I really need to learn some time management skills. Then I went back home at 5:00, ate, then went to my Child Welfare class from 7:00-10:00.

On Tuesday I started out with my group work class at 8:30 AM. My professor for this is rather insane, he flipped out on us because no one would reflect what he said. This professors teaching style is that students should be actively involved in the class, and be able to repeat in their own words some of the lecture he gave. That way we'll be better able to do this with clients. Of course no one did though, we were all drained from Monday and daydreamed through the class. My next surprise was that I had a class called 'social work research methods' which was another math class, I though I was done with math! Then my abuse in the family class...

Wednesday and Thursday were a repeat more or less of Monday and Tuesday.. but since I just came from holidays panic started to set in that I had to write 20 pages of journals for the research, placement and one of my classes. I still haven't touched that yet. Instead I had to finish season 5 of Stargate, which I finished yesterday. Gotta start season 6 soon and watch all of that.

My Impressions: Well, I don't have a job at the moment so time management isn't too much of an issue. If I get my work done, even if it is at the last minute, at least it's getting done. I need to learn how to work on a tight schedule anyways, and doing stuff the night before just might teach me to get things done faster.

Future Plans: I'll continue to watch Stargate and anime too, but just do so maybe while eating or after 9:00 PM when I can't push myself to do anymore. If I feel that I have too much work to do at my placement then I'll talk to my instructor also. I might also need a better environment to do work too, there isn't a comfortable chair or computer-free desk in my res room.
