Getbackers Getbacker manga....

    Has anyone read the manga? What did you think about it?


    I haven't read the manga, so I need to know if it's worth it or not.

    The Tokyopop release is HORRID, although I still buy it. Mainly, Tokyopop did the same thing to Getbackers they did to the Initial D anime. They made it "street", making Ginji and Ban somehow talk in ebonics.

    *BUT*, it's still Getbackers...so it's really cool to see it on paper. It's also a lot more adult than the show. A LOT more.

    Ebonics, eh? *ponders this* Well, I may need to get used to that idea. And hearing it's more adult then the show is a plus. I did find the anime alittle childish at times.

    Horrid?? Hmpf.. i think not Maybe u don't like this Type of Anime/manga But i think its the best i've Ever Gotten the chance to read. Ur opinion i Guess.

    You seriously like seeing Ginji and Ban talk like they were raised in Compton? Like you said, it *is* your (and mine) opinion...but still...it's kinda...dumb.

    The manga itself is great. I'm just at odds with how they portray Ginji and Ban through the translation.

    ?? i Havent really Tought that They Speaked as if they were born in Compton...Hmm.. Maybe so But Thats not a major part of the Get- Backers the major part is The Story, To me Anyway. But no i haven't Noticed This Compton Speak. ur reffering to.

    okay, so maybe it isn't exactly that great, but i wouldn't exactly go up to horrid.

    i guess the manga's okay. i mean, i haven't watched the anime yet, so i'm not sure how it's different.

    ... and where's Compton?

    Alright, *fine*, maybe I overreacted...but still, they could've just kept it in regular english. It's so much easier not to laugh at it while the storyline's being serious.

    The only time I tolerate it is when they go "chibi", and some of the comedic relief.

    Anyway, Compton is in South Central Los Angeles.

    maybe just maybe u did Overreact. And ur possibally the most pickyist person. All my freinds have read the first and acouple others and dident think anything like that. So i guess it's just u.

    ... i never knew that the story was being serious... even once. it all just seemed funny throughout the whole thing... o_O

    From my experience with it, it's serious a good part of the time. I mean...It's not really that funny.

    The Getbackers

    This manga is new and it's called the Getbackers.Its about these two guys who have powers.They are a retrieval team.One guys power is the Evil Eye and the other has electric powers.They steal things for people and get into trouble for doing it.The art is good.It is a really good story.So check it out.

    This isn't really a new manga. Tokyopop has been releasing this series since Feburary 2004 and it was it was started in Japan in 1999 so it is really not that new. They have already made an anime which is almost done being released by ADV.

    Now that my rant is over I will say that I really like this series. I was a little abrehansive since I thought it was not as good as it would be. It is quite funny and am waiting for a collective release of the series. Well I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

    PS: TokyoPop has released 11 volumes of it to date.

    Oddly, manga Ginji looks even worse than anime Ginji. So does manga Jackal and manga Lady Poison, actually. The only one that looks somewhat cool is somehow Ban. I just think that the anime made them more...fluid, and thus, look better.

    GetBackers Manga

    Has anyone read the GetBackers manga.It is really good but not as good as the anime.If anyone has please post.

    Actually, from reading it, I liked the manga more. The character design makes it look worse, though. Especially for Ginji and Himiko. And Doc. Jackal looks a little too chubby every few panels.

    Other than that, I liked the manga more. More ecchi too!
