Okey, I'm sorry if I can't think of a better title to this thread, but due to my irritated state today...I prefer that title. Anyway, I just started this thread 'coz I'm really kinda pissed off (but still in control) and I wanted your opinion on this one.
Alrighty! As you all know, I have a site-a Slam Dunk site (I don't know if you know this anime). And I really love this anime (a lot!). A local channel here in the Philippines aired it and it became really popular. So with that, many people started visiting my site, and wrote on my guestbook (which makes me happy). And today when I visited my site and looked at the guestbook, there is an entry there that really ticked me off. It was written in my language (Tagalog), and it says really awful things! I mean, he/she cursed a lot, like saying Slam Dunk is stupid and such. I don't get mad that easily, but when I read this, I just lost it, so I wrote a (hate) mail to him/her saying that he/she should have some decency and just shut up.

Do you guys think I did the right thing? I'm usually nice, and I don't want any enemies...but that's really irritating....

Okey, I'm gonna shut up now...

    Thanks for listening....

I really hate it when people go out of their way to say they hate a series.. it's not like you made the series.. It's not like you forced them to visit their website, or waste their time writing in your guestbook..

Dunno how to handle it. I'm not especially good at anger management.

    Gah, I hate hate mail.

Anyway, thinking right now, do you think you could have handled it better? Seeing as how people who just badmouth (and badmouth and badmouth and badmouth) don't have anything better to do than to be offensive at all costs...maybe he was provoking that action.

In any case, I think it could have been handled better. But, anything could be handled better after the fact. Nobody here would fault you for this. I mean, seriously, just punch something. Yell really loud, or maybe even run a couple laps (y'see, you work out as a side-effect!), make your site twice as good as it is now (it's already really good, i've perused it), something productive. People like that, with the intention of pissing you off, should be ignored.

Like my momma always says, (since all of us in the household has a temper) "just do something constructive." What that exactly entails, I don't know...but, I do know that it's a must to cheer people up. Saying that, Izzy now goes to V-chan's site and signs her guestbook to try and erase bad BAD feelings. :D

P.S. Smiling's always better than frowning, so I always make the effort to make others smile. Besides, frowning all the time causes wrinkles....I have some to prove it! Grrrrrr

    ^_^

Thanks a lot guys! I'm a lot more calmer now. Maybe what I did is pretty stupid, but I just don't know what to do at that time, so I did it (hungs her head in shame...)

Anyways, thank you for signing my guestbook Izzy-chan, I really appreciated it. The TENSAI gif is really cute, ne? Yeah, it's a romantic comedy with basketball in it. As for the frames, my bro did it, I don't know jack 'bout frames or tables...hehehe...call me stupid...as much as I want to be called SENSEI...I just can't lie...

I'll try to be more nicer (???) if I encountered another thing like this....

    ARIGATOU!!! :D

    hmmmm

I've never really gotten any bad comments in my guest book (I hardly get any though ><)... But I would probably be really ticked as well if anyone went out of their way to come to my guestbook and start insulting Rurouni Kenshin or anime. I think that I would probably delete it :p Either that or e-mail to person saying that I forgive them (lol...make them feel guilty!). And then I would whip up a nice little virus that makes EVERYTHING on their computer have a permanent Rurouni Kenshin theme... MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Such disgraceful messages should be kept to themselves or shouldn't even be thought of, it disgusts me to hear that people visit a good site and just because they don't like the anime, write in the guest book the site is bad. *tsk* he/her must be some moron, Ignore him/her

(I don't know about you guys, but I like Slam Dunk Seen it in korea)

Funny thing about doing something creative is that there's a certain breed of *sshole that regards you as fair game as soon as you do it. Ever seen 'Chasing Amy' - the scene at a comics convention where a 'fan' tells a creator, basically, that he is crap? That happens in real life all the time. I've had a few comics creators tell me so, and I assume that it's the same for anyone else who has the temerity to actually create something as opposed to being a full-time consumer.

I recommend the same response as Banky in 'Chasing Amy' myself. I think you've actually been very restrained.

    Welcome to the club..

SailorVenus, you just experienced your first hate mail. Get used to it, there will be always people who send you hate mails for one reason or another.

I, for example, have a catholic webpage and I don't stop getting hate mails from a certain kind of fundies who think I'm going to hell, that I'm an idol worshipper yadda yadda yadda.

I've tried debating them (using reasons, and showing them where they've misread my words) but it's no use. Nothing I say will make them change their minds. They're just too proud.

So don't add more wood to the fire by answering those. Just erase the mails, and go on with your site.

    Ta-da! :)

Heh, you should be fine as soon as you realize how pointless their message really seems in the end...I mean, after all, they're signing amongst many other messages, and if that's the only entry flinging an insult it looks very out of place...

Couple that with the fact that anyone stupid enough to leave such a remark isn't usually too-well versed.

Check out this guestbook page from my own site....halfway down the page we have a real winner. Not even a valid e-mail address either. :p

And finally one last bit of advice - Your site must actually be good enough to offend them to the point that think signing at all is worthwhile...if it's really awful, why would they bother at all, ne?

What I would have done is just added another guest book entry, only I'd've made it the most sarcastic reply ever, and I'd indirectly and subtley mock the bejesus out of him. But that's just me.

Subitlty? bah. There's time for subtilty and there's time for bluntness. And there's also times where you shouldn't be so sensitive to things like that. I mean it's just a TV show. Sounds like a chace for a good argument too.

The reason I got mad, Mad-Hamish, is not because of the TV show. My point is he/she shouldn't have said such awful things in the guestbook! I mean, people are gonna see it, for crying out loud! He/She was swearing like there's no tomorrow, I'm not against people who swear (I do it sometimes), but why swear when there's no point to it? Nobody forced him to visit my site or watch that anime...

And so you know, I'm a sensitive person...especially when it comes to things that I work my *** off.

    That's that...

Yes, i understand your point. But you shouldn't be so sensitive to people. If their opinion doesn't count, why do you worry so much?

Ah anyway... it's in the past now.
    Isn't it?

Yah! I got over it somehow. Maybe I am just too sensitive, my Mom always said that I shouldn't be...I tried not to be...but I just cant help it.

Well, anyway, I'm gonna improve my site more and I won't comment on anything that will just make me mad or something. And I'll try not to be so sensitive...;)

I sort of understand your sensitivity though. I mean, when I get a message in my guest book I'm like "HOLY CRAP!!! SOMEONE LOVES ME!!!!!!!". But then to see that it's just some hate signing would depress me.... But it's not like everyone in your book says stuff like that, as long as it's only like 1 out of like 30 or so.

But don't worry about it, we love j00!!!

oi >< I'm really out of it now...
