Anime Gunbuster 2! Aim for the Top!

OK, I've heard recently about Gainax announcing a Toppu o Nerae! 2, and have been pretty excited about it because I had heard a long time ago that Kazuya Tsurumaki, the FLCL director, wanted to do it. We'd finally have a Gainax anime where we could get away from Hiroyuki Yamaga for a while.

BTW, CDJapan says the first episode will come out in late September in Japan.

Anyway, on to the topic at hand. I've only seen one picture, which I've attached. It looks like all new characters, not the ones from the old Gunbuster, and they're designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. However, if you take a good look, a couple look really suspicious - the guy with the sunglasses and the girl with the scarf in particular. Might there be some connection between FLCL and Gunbuster 2? Probably not, but still...

 

Maybe in the same way there's a connection between Lain and Niea Under 7

Gunbuster 2 could be fun, I wonder how it will turn out with Tsurumaki at the helm. Come to think of it, I need to finish Gunbuster.. Is it still on that one site where you can stream all sorts of crap? What the heck is that site called anyway?

 

Yeah, it probably is just because of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. He didn't do the designs on the first one, and I can't remember who did...

Sputnik7 is what you're looking for. But don't you remember? You were the one who Asfripped it for me. You don't have them any more? I don't know if they're still on Sputnik7, I'll check.

Edit: Nah. It looks like only Orguss 02, Landlock, Armageddon, Red Hawk, some Armored Trooper Votoms right now.

 

Oh yeah.. I probably still do have it then. That was me performing a brain lapse. It'll be somewhere in the Giant CD Case of Fun then.

So has there been any more news on Gunbuster 2?

 

It don't see that much of a connection; it's just coincidence. People make an anime with such a variety of characters that sometimes a few of them might remind you of another anime.

I can vaguely remember the original Gunbuster, with Noriko, the blue haired girl, and the red-haired girl. I only saw the first two episodes.
