That would be "Wolf's Rain". It's a great show, that HOPEFULLY won't be harvested by CN kids ONLY saying how cool Tsube is.

It's a great show, and deserves much more than what happened to Bebop and IY.

However, it's good that you're interested in it, as it IS very good. Much like Bebop is good. Though, I haven't watched anything past episode 8.

I have to agree with everything Izzay said. If it turns into another Inu-Yasha, I shall weep for anime.

Plus, these guys made RahXephon. How can it be bad?

It certainly looks like a good series, in terms of character diversity, plot, and animation. Sadly, I know how many squealing, mindless, chatspeaking teenagers like both anime and wolves - so I'm sure that if Wolf's Rain at some point introduces a female lead who can feed the teenage craving for romance, this one'll go the way of Inuyasha within seconds.

    And we'll probably still have to put up with "OMG so-and-so iz sooooo hot!!!@!" even if there isn't much romance. e_e;

Let's just hope not. It's sad when a decent anime's fandom becomes so diluted with the bottom-rung class of fans that everyone else stays clear of the series.

I've been semi-following the series ever since its AS premiere, and so far it's been pretty decent. I especially love the animation on this one, and the plot seems fairly well-rounded.

Teenagers who like both anime and wolves....

    Hey wait a minute!

Heh, just kidding Dilandau, I understand what you were implying, and I have to agree. As much as I love Inuyasha, I'm incredibly annoyed by the "OmG Sesshy is so fawkin sexiiii" fans, and I hope Wolf's Rain doesn't go down that road.

    Tidbits that I keep forgetting.

If you've watched the first episode, you realize that the pack is trying to find Rakuen/Paradise (whichever they end up calling it...or even "Eden"). They DO NOT spend the entire time in the city, which makes it even better.

As I've said, what I've seen of Wolf's Rain, I can compare to some episodes of Bebop. It would probably be the music, because Yoko Kanno ALSO directed the music in the show. She also brought back Maaya Sakamoto and Steve Conte for the vocals.

Maaya does a great job on the ending credits, as her english becomes very credible, unlike some of her other works.

And, Kagome's Arrow, Dilandau, sadly, I can already see the "OMG!!! KYba anD BlUE ArE TEh SoAH HAwT!!! OMG!!! I rE CreaMiNG MyA PAanTs!!! SesshouMaru! BLuE!!! *SPLOOGARZZRZRZRZRZ".

Because, well, I can already see half of the Inu-Yasha fan-people crowding in to see Wolf's Rain simply because of the title.

Another point in favor of Wolf's Rain. :3 Who doesn't like Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto?

Definitely. In my experience, few cultures can produce that sort of beautiful music the way the Japanese can - and the only drawback comes when they're not very experienced with another language that they're trying to sing in. XD 'Engrish' is fun, but not for serious lyrics.

Uh-huh. -_-; I'm sure that's half the reason why Cartoon Network picked it up. I wonder if they'll ever go for some of Rumiko Takahashi's other series just because they can say "from the creator of Inuyasha" to automatically attract an audience?

The rerelease of the Ranma manga has had a sticker that says just that on the cover after volume 4 was republished.

I know a couple people who don't, actually. ^_^;; They haven't cared for any series that Yoko Kanno has worked on except for Wolf's Rain. Anyway, that's not entirely on topic of the discussion.

Wolf's Rain is a series that I really enjoy. I do have to admit that at least part of that enjoyment stems from the fact that we have a lot of very attractive characters running around, but that isn't the main reason I like it.

The story interests me. It's a plot idea that I haven't really seen done in books, movies, or television. Oh, the whole idea of searching for Paradise/Eden is as old as time itself, practically, but the way that it is handled in Wolf's Rain is fairly unique in my experience.

Unfortunately, the fandom for this series is going to go downhill fast, at least as far as quality is concerned. Of course, in some ways the fandom was questionable to begin with....*shrugs* I'll continue to like the series, but since I rarely get involved with series fandom, I don't think I'll have too much of a problem.

I have yet to see the dub...how is it? I've heard that it's fairly decent, as far as dubs go, but I have my reservations.

I thought the dub was pretty decent, but seeing as dubs are pretty much all I've ever seen (with the exception of a few episodes from some random series here and there), I'm pretty biased.

But honestly, I think it's better then the Inuyasha dub.

Well, thus far, the dub hasn't made me flinch too much. XD I think that a greater effort is being made to leave a series intact when it comes to American television, including preserving the quality of the voices, which is a good thing. Chances are that I'll like the sub better when I see it, I usually do - but so far the dub has been surprisingly tolerable. (It's certainly better than the Inuyasha dub.) There's a good deal of effort being put into it by the viceactors, and yet none of the characters sound like they're trying too hard.

    See? It's started already!

A lot of the characters seem very static to me, but, that might have been due to the small amount of episodes I've seen.

I'd have to agree with you, Izzy... but on the other hand, the series has just started, and I try not to judge so soon. ^^ Even if the characters overall aren't the most dynamic I've seen, they're certainly not boring (yet? XD).

As it stands, I'm developing a creeping fondness for Toboe. o_O Dunno why - maybe because it's been a long time since I've found a likable wimp? XD Seeing him being bullied by crows was sort of endearing. And his utter bewilderment when he killed the girl's falcon (hawk? Whatever.) was precisely the sort of - mm, how to put it? - dangerous, sometimes cruel innocence that I find is a common thread among some of my favorite characters.

I enjoy it. It's a nice thing to watch on a Saturday night. Plus, the show has some Native American references (I'm part Cherokee Indian, so I'm in to Native American things :catgirl: ).
