Recreation Have you ever had a umeboshi?

    You know those little red things in a rice cake? Those are umeboshi. When I went ot Japan, I ate one at a resturant. OMG-- It was terrible. Has anyone else ever eaten one? :blush2:

    An umeboshi is a pickled plum, and those rice cakes are called onigiri. I've never had one myself.
    This isn't really the right place for this(although I see the relevance), so I'll send it over to misc.

    They're good when you have rice to help cut the flavor. However, having eaten one plain, I can't say I was fond of the taste alone.

    I like um. Along with Onigiri. I wouldnt eat them alone, but with rice, yeah. I like them in Onigiri becuase it gives more flavoring to the rice when you eat it, so it wont be as bland. God this is making me hungry. . . . ^^;;

    I love umeboshi!
    In the little Tokyo in Toronto you can get umeboshi candies... they're AWESOME. I looove them. (Now I have to go back to Toronto and get some more... *sigh*)
