I know you don't want to hear this but SOAD suck.
I have listened to their first two albums extensivly.
While the first one is better than toxicity they both still suck in my opinion(there's the magic word)
There's nothing special about them and when I saw them live they were just awful. All the stupid chanting of idiotic political sloagans. Does chanting "fu*k the system" qualify you as a bad *** these days.
If they spent more time with their instuments instead of their politics they could improve.
But they seem to be surviving the whole Nu metal backlash.

i have to admit that their new stuff ain't too good...and i guess you could expect that they aren't good live, as most bands aren't nowadays.

....After Slayer? That really must've ruined their performance....
In a related story, i was up this morning playing Castlevania on my GBA and listening to the metal station when, lo and behold, a live version of the song "Sugar" came on. Now, the second i saw this, i thought of this thread. And you know what? It was one of the crappiest things i have EVER heard. EVER. Thank God they aren't on Ozzfest this year. Wait...i'm not even going to Ozzfest.

hehe since every1 hates SOAD im gonna say i like it.

the last album "Steal This Album" was incomplete and they released it like that because their new music leaked to the internet.

The songs on that album are bad but they were released incomplete to have some hope of sales.

I think they are a good band and if ur judging them on their last album you are wrong...

Well I think most people were judging them on all their work. I was judging them on their first 2 albums and their live performances.

They're ok to listen to, but I prefer to ignore the political crap they go on about, its just music afterall.

I think chop suey was their crappy pop style tune they released to get into the MTV teeny boppers good books, basically selling themselves out.

Even if I disagree with the political stances/messages/meanings etc. etc. in music, sometimes I'll say I like a song or band because their music can be presented in a clever, intelligent way along with decent music.

I can't say this with System of a Down.

My opinion comes from a narrow source, though . . . I've only listened through all of Steal this Album and of course Chop Suey (though I do kind of like that song).

Come on, you can't mean that, I seem to recall you saying you like Blind Guardian. Don't get me wrong, I do too. But songs about middle earth and such aren't chock full of deep meaning.
    It's just excellent music.

i heard system of a down is going kaput.
serj is producing a band on his "serjical strike" record label or something, daron is doing the same on his record thing, and shavo's doing some music videos (like Taproot's "Mine", and i think hes doing it for method man too)
so, yeah. they might be splitting up.
