I got an interesting mail from geocities today in regards the eirtaku site

    "Dear GeoCities Member:

    Congratulations, http://www.geocities.com/sakura321 is
very popular and has been receiving a large amount of traffic. Your
site has become so popular, in fact, that our records indicate that
you're using more than the allotted amount of data transfer we provide
for a free web site, which is 3GB/month (measured on an hourly basis).
That means at some time during the past few days we had to turn your
site off until the usage fell within the prescribed limit.

If you'd like to prevent this from happening to your site, you
may join one of our new premium services, GeoCities Pro or GeoCities
Webmaster. These packages allow for 10 GB and 20 GB of data transfer
respectively, and also give you the option of purchasing unlimited
data transfer so your site will never be disabled. These packages also
enable you to run an ad-free site at your own domain name (for example,
www.your-dot-com.com) AND get matching email accounts at
    that domain (like you@your-dot-com.com). "

So, Geocites are hitting us for money and I aint budging..... as a result Eirtaku will be moving!

Just thought I'd keep everyone informed

That'z pretty sad news there 'bout Geocities -
but surely the Eirtaku site would b better off spread out on 2 r 3 Eircom "free webspace" type 20meg kinda bitz - no? -
    then u wouldn't have any popz r bannerz -
    & it'd b faster for all a us Irish folk 2! -
r u could just use 1 Eircom free account for ur HTML pagez -
with external linx 2 big filez on the likez of Geocitiez -
BTW - I checked out all of ur Flash animz -
    *hilarious!!!* - ^_^
    & I thought ur Misty 1 was pretty cool 2!!! -
    Misty = v.cool -
Well enuf spewing from me -
I'm prob not making NE sense NEway! -
    wotever u do - b sure 2 keep Eirtaku going -
    & get more stuff up on the site 2! - ^_^ -

    Kage,

Have they given you an estimate of how much this premium package will cost?

@#%$!!! Or should I say Feck now that I am in Ireland ^_^??

Well, I had a similar problem with my site as you all know. So big it was that I havent actually reopened the site yet.

www.50megs.com are the people who screwed me, BUT they do have a very cheap package (one that I am not willing to pay for MY site, but it might be better than Geocities if we indeed are going to pay for it). They offer:

    -50megs storage
    -Unlimited file transfer/bandwidth
    -FTP access
    -Remote file linking
-More stuff I dont remember right now

For something like 6 pounds a month or so. It is worth thinking.

hmm where were you living originally? and we say both @#%$ and feck...use either and we'll understand you, but it all depends on where you are from I guess...mostly in Dublin we use @#%$...just thought I'd mention that...
