I'm still kinda new to Inu-Yasha so I got a bunch of questions.
How many episodes have been made? How many are being shown on CN? I realize they are currently showing "new" episodes, so how many new ones are they showing; like what episode do they end at? And when? For that matter, which one did they end at before?
Just how many of you have actually seen each episode before these new ones? i've been watching for months (sporadically at first) and I still seem to have a long way to go.
How many individual mangas (not whole novels) are there?
    Now more specific questions...
I forget: Is Sesshomaru half-demon? What's the name of that old lady preistess again, the one who found Kagome? I often get confused on the relaitionship between Kiykio and Naraku. Can some one please explain it to me?
And if you couldn't tell allready, I'm pretty bad at spelling these Japanese names. Oh yhea, and what's the name of the woman who created this franchise again?
    Observations:
Anyone else notice that Kagome and Inu-yasha have the same exact hair style? Don't ya think the whole franchise and stories would be totally differant if a man wrote it instead?

OK I guess that's all. That should keep you busy :D I'd do a long difficult web search for web pages that could help me, but this is far easier and I'm less likely to get spoiled.

It won't take long when I step up to the plate. :D

There are currently 123 eps available (fan subs). On 9/15/2003 there will be 127 in Japan.

CN will play only 56 so far. It started off with number 37 this season. Check www.cartoonnetwork.com schedule for more details. 'The man who feel in love with Kagome' (or something like that is number 37)

The manga has atleast Vol. 33 but over 300 chapters.

I have seen all 123 eps. plus 2 out of three movies.

Sess is a full demon (youkai) not half. Inuyasha is half demon (hanyo).

    Old lady is Kaede.

Kikyo was a miko that helped a man (onigumo). Onigumo was burned really bad and had dark feelings for her. But he couldn't have her. So he allowed youkai to eat at his darkness (youkai wanted his dark heart). So Naraku was formed. Naraku is hanyo. because of Onigumo. And he still has feelings for her. He tried to turn the shikon no tama black and that is where his plot failed. Kikyo is semi dead so now he wants to kil her off and be rid of Onigumos feelings for her. He wants to be a youkai.

Who created it is taht what you mean?

Thanks for clearing that up somewhat, but...
So because Naraku wanted to change the jewel, that's why he turned Kikyo against Inu-Yasha? I know it's a basic question but it's been so long, plus I never actually saw the first few episodes.

Yhea I wanted to remember the name of the artist who created the manga. Isn't she basically the same person who created the anime, and draws it?

For starters, I've seen up through 120 and the first two movies.

The series was created by Rumiko Takahashi. No, she is not the character designer for the anime. The anime is done by Shogakukan/Yomiuri TV/Sunrise in Japan, and is released by Viz/Pioneer in America (gotten off of the back of the first dvd). The character designer for the anime (the one who decides how the characters are animated) is Yoshihito Hishinuma.

Stuff like that gets confusing. I just want to know who to give credit to for the art and stories!
And how the heck could anyone see 120 episodes if only 50 or so are on? Not like you can rent em at the video store.

First yes that is why he turned Inu-Yasha and Kikyo against each other. Plus he wanted kikyo at the time. So it would be like killing two birds with one stone. Of course Naraku doesn't want anything to do with her just part of him does. (Onigumo part)

There is 114 eps available to buy. 2 movies and 1 tv special. These are all able to buy but come in japanese with english subtitles. Of course it costs money to buy them lees then $200. There is no renting for them.

Up to eps. 123 can be found by fansubs.
[Links to downloads of anime episodes are not allowed] has updates when they are out. But I would still buy the eps. for dvds when they come out.

Give credit to Rumiko Takahashi. She's the one who created the story.

The confusing stuff I listed was just the companies (in Japan and America) that actually make and release the anime, and the character designer for the anime (since it's not Takahashi-sempai). If you want to give credit to the person who designed the looks for the anime, then give credit to Yoshihito Hishinuma.

I would like to make a small correction to basher's listing of episodes for purchase.

Officially released dvds with English subititles in America go up to episode 39 at the moment, according to the most reliable online stores (www.animecornerstore.com). This is 13 dvds.

Officially released dvds in Japan go up to episode 92 at the moment, according to the most reliable online stores (www.cdjapan.co.jp). This is 31 dvds. Please note that these dvds are region 2 (won't play on most non-Japanese dvd players), do not have any subtitles, do not have an English dub track, and only have 2 or 3 episodes per disc. You can also buy the first 2 movies in Japan. The third one has not premiered yet. None of the movies are available in English or subbed in any form other than fansub or bootleg.

Anything else available for purchase is a bootleg.

As basher pointed out, up through episode 123 is available for download as fansubs. That's how I saw through 120. I'm currently protesting Viz's stupidity, so I'm not buying their dvds at the moment, but I'll probably eventually end up buying the box sets when I can afford it.

As far as I know, dvds and videos of Inuyasha have not been made available for rent yet, but I haven't checked in a bit. Maybe I'll see if Blockbuster or Hollywood Video has them when I'm at Smith's tomorrow.

Information about Inuyasha anime episodes and manga volumes can also be found in this Introduction to Inuyasha thread (stickied at the top of the Inuyasha forum). I try to keep the information up to date.

I did finnally notice that thread (some reason I always fail to notice stickies.) Still, most of what I wanted to know was more specific.
I REALLY wish I had a better connection then this STUPID 56k. If I wanted to download a half-hour episode it could take me several days! I supose if I had such a great connection I could get any friggin anime I want. There's a giant TV sitting right next to this computer. I bet I could download stuff and play it on the TV someday :D
Anyhow, thanks for clearing things up. I'm not great at following long, complex story arcs so I'm sure I'll get confused again and will have to return here to ask more :D
