So I took a really long weekend for the Victoria Holiday - as in, the entire week off. I was overdue on some R&R ever since January and February's madness. The destination? Why, the small city of Chatham, Ontario - my former abode, and the house I grew up in.

But first, it was off to an even smaller 'burg - Strathroy. It was what has become a somewhat annual get-together of a group of friends. The undisputed theme of the weekend was Star Wars, as one of the highlights of the weekend was to shoot over and catch Episode III on the bigscreen in London that weekend. We're all fairly die-hard Star Wars fans in our group, but none of us are extremists - that is, no cosplay or waiting in line to see the 12am first day screening. Actually, one did, but he didn't let on until 10 minutes before showtime on Sunday. This is an amazing feat for him, by the way, since he's a regular blabbermouth (Then again, if he did let loose with any spoilers, no one would have found his remains...maybe he knew this?)

As usual, we broke out the Star Wars Card Game decks (even after Lucas yoinking Decipher's license to make the game, it hasn't stopped rocking), and I even put together a quick pre-rolled Star Wars Roleplaying session. It was fairly successful, with the only incident being the group members killing and skinning their companion when he left for a break.

The movie was not a let down. It was a sweet ride from start to finish, and although it had a few elements I personally feel could have been better (cutting a few poorly done scenes, making it darker), I was not disappointed in the least.

Then it was back to my parents' place for the remainder of the week. It was good to see them, and my siblings (even if they can get on my nerves from time to time). My younger sister pulled an Akane Tendo on my next to last day, however - she got all pumped up to cook dinner for me, but couldn't follow the instructions...and the result was...interesting. It's good she made the effort, though. I'm not as good at coming up with thoughtful activities.
