Ok, so all I have to say is a miss Banff. We flew Sunday afternoon (June 26th), landed in Winnipeg, then flew to Calgary. Calgary was you could say.. for my first time.. really interesting. Instead of names, the avenues and streets are numbers, which can make things quite confusing.

It was my first plane ride ever, and being sick and having ear trouble in water, I thought I was in for a treat. The jump down to Winnipeg was really painful. And it was only my left ear too. I thought it would just burst all at once in a horrible pain. It popped a few times then was fine after 30-45 minutes.. o_0. Once we arrived at the airport, we went to Budget rentals and got ourselves a Toyota Camry. We were both tired, but agreed I was the less tired? Anyways I drove the car and thought it was too funky. I tried different levers with the seat, but couldn't get much to work, so drove to Chinatown, with, turns out, the seat very high up. I never EVER had to adjust a seat's height before so it was beyond my thought patterns.. lol.

Anyways we ended up in Chinatown later in the evening and we ate at a local Chinese restaurant. There was this crazy drunk Chinese man at one table nearby who was soo loud.. haha. Anyways I ordered and, because I ordered we ended up getting waaaay more than we needed haha. The highlight was a battered shrimp dish and the wonton soup was just the BOMB! Never had I seen or eaten a nicer wonton soup.. my first bite, there was shrimp in the wonton along with the pork! The noodle wasn't falling apart either, it was like a true dimsum platter or something, the noodle was tight and wrinkly over the wonderful contents. haha yumm! Another favourite was the Shanghai Beef Noodle platter with Bok Choy.

We had tons of leftovers, and it took us a while to find the Sandman hotel (other end of city). When we finally got there, parked underground in a non-reserved spot, and got into our room (upgraded to suite? dunno) I was dismayed not to find a fridge. So I crnaked up the air conditioning and placed the styrofoam containers above the long side vent ^__^ worked like a charm.

In the morning, we ventured to the corner store for Halls (yes we both had colds) we had a nice breakfast nearby, I also bought these really yummy Blueberry/White Chocolate scones. We then walked like 2 blocks and found mec (Mountain Equipment Company) there we spent 315 buckaroos. Got small backpacks, Nalgene containers, Bear bells with silencers, coats, a beenie for me, bug spray and bite relief stick.. that may be it.

Back to the hotel, we packed everything back up, signed out, and psyched ourselves up for our roadtrip to Banff!
