ok, now I know that alot of you watch anime on DVD...however, I just got my job (which only pays $6.75 per hour, 30 hrs. per week), so I haven't had this available to me. So, instead I watch anime on tv. Which isn't so bad, especially when Sci-Fi Channel US showed late-night unedited anime movies. But all I have now is Cartoon Network & KTEH (a San Jose PBS station). KTEH doesn't edit either, & won't show stuff that's on nationwide. CN, on the other hand...

now, someone on the Twin Moons Forums told me that Toonami is an action program. OK. But how in the world is Hamtaro action???

& If it's called Adult Swim, why is it edited for little of nothing (like someone who smokes, or a guy hitting on another guy)?

& where did Cadidate for Goddess go? I was just starting to like that show?

& ok, but Toonami has practically turned into an anime program...so who told them that Powerpuff Girls was anime???

*Samurai Jack* would have been a better choice.

Last, but not least...aren't there more interesting movies than all the Sailor Moon movies they keep showing us.

So, in truth, I think the programming manager at Cartoon Network ought to be shot....

or, better yet, an Anime Network needs to be created for Basic Cable subscribers.

It's always the nominal american excuse of censorship. It sucks. I wish it would be like Japan here, so that we can watch Bebop and Card Captor Sakura and all that without really having to worry about deleting content and such. Americans are just a bunch of prudes, or a bunch of lawyers and parents who want to make for a sterile environment for kids.

Cartoon Network's Toonami just blows. Sorry to say it, but it just blows. I mean, *some* people can only stand so much dragon ball before they get real sick of it...but they keep playin' it (reruns all the time, no less!) because kiddies wanna watch it. So, I can't really complain about that, but yeah, Adult Swim is darned annoying too.

yawn.. we are such prudes are we?

You do know that when Cowboy Bebop was first shown over there, they couldn't show a lot of the episodes. Episodes 1 and 5 for example were too much and were not shown.

Also, we are the country with uncensored hard-core pr0n, not them. A bit of reading will tell you it's illegal over there without parts being blurred out

This is not to say Cartoon Network doesn't suck..

he has a good and valid point.
thank heavens for the uncensored pron we have. *^-^*
thing is, not everywhere has a steady flow of anime. talk to the eirtaku about that...
and well, america does have censorship laws. nothing we can do...some ppl can't take the site of blood, even if it is fake...some ppl don't like violence as intesne as that. ppl are offended by everything. oh well. we watch, get the shows they way they should be, either legally or illegally, and move on with our lives.

cartoon network isn't all bad...they have created alot more anime fans...and that's what will create the demand for new shows to be broguht over sooner...*^-^*

    thank you*^-^*

So desu. We get pretty much no anime on TV here in ireland, and we can get very very little in the shops. Most of that is dubbed VHS too. I have to import DVDs from the states ot download it to be able to watch any anime at all almost. I don't even have a hob. 'Tis hard being eirtaku.

While your arguments are right, we have to establish one thing:

AT LEAST IT'S [I[SOME[/I] ANIME. <not meant to be a yell, mind you. ^^;>

See, even though it's cut, it's still something, y'know? Local TV doesn't exactly give you your dose of anime. (Telemundo -- which was on Animerica! YAY! ^^ -- airs Slam Dunk, Pokémon, Ranma 1/2, and Dragonball Z. That's it. On Saturday mornings. Only.)

If we find out that it's been horribly cut (like the classic examples, Sailor Moon <DUH> and DBZ <honestly, "blow you to another dimmension"? or whatever it is they say~>) then we can just go out and rent or purchase uncut tapes or DVDs, or read about them on the internet. It's not that big of a deal.

I wanted to watch Sailormoon Super S dubbed because I own the uncut version. (It was the only DUB dub I hadn't seen). And for one thing, the Sailor Moon dub has brought LOTS of people into anime, so we HAVE to owe SOMETHING to the people who aired it, right? (Even if it is cut!)

And the censorship laws? It can't be helped. Let's just deal. We'll get our chance to watch the uncut stuff sooner or later anyway.

--and as for CN getting on my nerves, I digress: I LOVE Zoids Chaotic Century! ^__^ And lots of other stuff! (I think we all just need to learn to count our blessings... *meep*)

Yeah I agree with you. But as for Candidate for Godess, I was kind of getting into it, But I do like Inuyasha so that's okay I guess. I had no Idea that Sci-Fi showd anime movies UN CUT!Had I known that I would have got that channel a long time ago!But anyway, a lot of uncut stuff has brought a lot of people into the world of anime. So there is something that people see. America......man sometimes.......

    !!

You have *RANMA* on TV!!! RANMA!!! *WAAAAH*

Man, just that one show and I'm insanely jealous of your TV programming. And I'd rather deal with quality than quantity of the show....so seeing it only on saturdays gives me no mind at all. Unless they start showing...say...Battle Athletes here -- which will be horrendously screwed up because two of the major bit girls are completely in love with the main girl -- I will forever be envious of your viewings of Ranma. Well, they *could* show Ranma here...but I'm still going to go with the shoujo-ai complaint because...err....it's cool.

    Sakura/Tomoyo and Akari/Kris/Itchan forever! :sweat2:

From what little I've seen of the original (four eps or so I think) I rather doubt it :p It was a show built around the premise that CG is cool, and it seems everything else (like interesting plot) was sacrificed to that. For once, Toonami is IMHO not guilty :D

    I agree with Stardust...

Suer it does sort of bother me that they would censor and cut out scenes from anime. But it would bother me a lot more if they didn't show anime at all... I mean some people don't even get anime on TV. And yeah if you want to see what they took out of these anime's then go and buy the original version. I'm just glad that most of the time they don't take out too much of the plot and storyline of the show (oi... besides what they did to Escaflowne).

Cheer up, it could be worse.

Know how they have basic cable?

    I got substandard cable.

Of the 14 channels I get, 3 are simulcasts and 4 arent english.

Which means 7 channels are ones I can watch.

They are mostly news oriented except for a couple which show Simpsons from time to time.

So far its the only thing I don't like about college.

I can understand WHY they took so much out of Tenkuu no Escaflowne. Considering the timeslot they put it in, I mean. If they put it before the Simpsons or something...I think they could have kept more. But, showing such a series right before Power Rangers (which is also devoid of original plot :D) makes little kids watch it...something that the series CLEARLY should be watched with a little more caution.

    But...

At least they didn't show the Movie of this without editing...man, if they did...America's lawyers would have banned anime to the ground and stepped on FOX with subpeonas and beat it over the head with court orders. :D

It'd be cool to see it on Sci-Fi or something...or if I actually *WENT* to the screening like was planned...dammit, I coulda watched Spirited Away as such too!!! GAAAH, bakabakabakabakabakabakabakabakabakabakabakabakabaka!!!
