First you step into the kitchen for some GoldenGrahms and accidently step into an alternate dimmension, then you become a cynic and stop speaking your mind. Don't fall asleep. You will create something great but it will become the only thing you are known for, but in order to maintain yourself you must maintain it. After all of this

    I am helpful.

    Let's be nice, now! ^_^

Okay, well, first things first, you need a program. What do you have right now?

Hah??? Man, this thread reeks of...well...unknowing computer-leet-ness. And that's okay, since we're here to help.

First off, yeah, you need a program. MS Paint will do, but it SUCKS. However, I've seen some funny funny stuff done with it. There's also JASC Paintshop Pro 8 (Which I just got, free, courtesy of JASC ^_^) and Adobe Photoshop 7. I prefer Photoshop, as it's more intricate than Paintshop. Then, just fiddle and doodle around until your happy with your wallpaper.

This for example is my own use of layers, layer effects, airbrushes, selections, and one filter. Oh, and text and gradience. Basically, the more you do, the better you'll be down the road.

This would be my latest work: (Just...look at the wallpaper, not anything else around it.)

Yup. Now....THAT wall took some vision. Had to plan out a bit more than usual. But, that's how it goes.

If you want to learn a few basic techniques, I suggest http://animedia2k.virtualave.net/tutorial-1/tutorial1.html ,
and I've personaly made several wallpapers without the help of the wonderful adobe photoshop or PSP.
Microsoft Image Composer is a default program you should have on Windows.

This is some of teh old junk I made with no graphic experience whatsoever. These were my first terrible attempts at walls, so don't laugh. :p

It is a screen shot, I haven't uploaded that particular wallpaper anywhere. I skinned Windows XP (Yeah, g'wan ya damn penguins! We don't need your business! ^_^) But the wallpaper was designed by me. Pretty much 1400 x 1050 of it is mine, with the artwork belonging to whoever drew that picture, and Lotus for making the sexy-*** elise. But, other than that, the wallpaper is mine. ^_^
