Vote, tell what you voted if you want to and discuss about the topic if you wish.

I personally get my animes by downloading them. I do not feel guilty because of that. Should I?

i go to a club at ryerson university in Toronto and get it there, they also show the animes in a lecture hall on a big screen so you know if you want to buy it.

I do a combination of all of the choices, really. I bittorrent (*hugs seraphim, "share buddies!"*), winMX, etc. I also buy when they're released....the most recent example of which would be Please Teacher! (which I still need volume 2 of...) and RahXephon. I also watch it on TV, depending on what it is I'm watching. Like, I'd watch Lain, Digimon (Hence my name...), and a select few others. Or, I'd rent them, as I'm a member of an anime store in the area. Or, I'd sit in on the anime-club's movies every now and then. I *should* join that club, but I'd rather not stay in school, and work demands attention. =P

I also do a combination of some of the choices. For previewing purposes (seeing what's new in Japan, seeing later episodes of long-running series) I tend to download. If I like the series enough I will buy it when it comes to the US. I also borrow anime from friends (one of my friends is an anime trader and has a ton of stuff).

Occasionally I'll rent something from the local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, but they generally don't have what I want to watch. Last ditch resort (if I can't find any other way to get anime) is to watch it on TV. There's a speculative fiction club on campus that's trying to be an anime club, but I don't do stuff with them.

I have too many DVDs! :p I mostly buy mine, since Amazon.com has big discounts on series that are sold in the U.S. and because anime DVDs are easy to find at local stores where I live. I have, on rare occasions, gotten fansubs for series that weren't out yet, but I usually only need one tape to determine if I like a series. I've never bought a whole series fansubbed since I tend to make bad decisions and buy a series that I watch and then realize that it's actually pretty bad...

I've also imported a few raw tapes from CDJapan for the series Sci-Fi Harry, but they are horribly expensive. I can't borrow a lot of tapes, because my friends don't have many and the local anime club sucks as far as variety goes.

I'll mostly catch them on T.V. since I can barely escape my house to get out and buy them. But sometimes I'll buy anime DVDs (i'm collecting .hack//sign DVDs) but most of the time I'll catch them on T.V.

Buying is an expensive route, but I have collections of my favorite series on DVD - downloads can get near the source quality, but they never quite match it, and downloading VOBs would be insane. Besides, for those excellent series, the best way to show support is with your pocketbook. Money talks.

Much of my stuff also comes from digital fansub groups, distributed mainly through IRC, tho more and more are using the increaisngly popular BitTorrent (see above testimonies).

And then I have number of pretty ratty VHS copies from friends and/or trades. Not the highest caliber stuff, but it still counts.

Edit: Stickler point, but the plural of anime is still anime. :)

I download most of my anime, then burn them. mIRC and Kazaa are definitely the best places. I have at least 1000 episodes burnt and I've never bought a CD. Downloading allows you to watch the Japanese subtitled, just like when you buy.

Anime on TV.... Rarely, only Rurouni Kenshin, the Gundam series, and Big O, since I don't have them one CD's.
