It seems that, depending on their source, people have different titles for the same thing...someone once pointed out to me, that it doesn't matter, as long as you can tell what anyone's talking about (for instance, as long as someone doesn't refer to Geltand as 'Cheeseland', you're fine)...But, I'm a curios person... So my question to y'all, is what's your preference on the following?:

    1) Terra II, Terratoo, or Terratsu?
    2) Gartland, Geltand, or Germania?
    3) Looks, Luchs, or Lynx?
    4) Teagal, or Tiger?
    5) Yumegi, or Yumeji?
    6) Japones, or Japoness?
    7) Gettel, or Goddel?
    8) Obiichi Soemon, Obinchi Sohemon, or Obichi Kenobi (yes, I have seen someone call him that!!) ?
    9) Maiden Circuit, Virgin Circuit, Otome Circuit, or Otome Kairo?
    10) BakaMattSu, or Baka-Matt-Su?

BakaMattSu, who threw in the last one for the heck of it, and really values your response...

well, I mostly try to name them in their original way, like in japanese all letters are prounaonced (hum, does that mine my nick would be ki-ai-ko-u ?) which would mean urs would be ba-ka-ma-tsu.

//Aldamel, prolly gonna learn japanese after summer...

    Okay, Okay...

    1) Terra II
    2) Geltland
    3) Lynx (even though I *know* Luchs is correct...I just hate how it's pronounced 'Looks'....)
    4) Tiger (I abhor 'Teagel')
    5) Yumeji
    6) Japones (I still don't understand the double s...)
    7) Gettel
    8) Obinchi Sohemon (never was sure of this one...)
    9) Otome Circuit (half english, half jap...why? Dunno, just a stupid preference...)

    Umm...Baka-Matt-Su?

    (And in J to X,

    11) Kenna, Gennai, etc.??
    )

    11) Gennai Shiraga

    This is stupid, but hey:
the oo in Luchs is more like in crooks than in books or looks. Just seems a little shorter, with a tad of 'i' mixed in. Rather subtle. Like a cross between licks and looks. Not that I am trying to convert you, just stick with Lynx if you want. Nothing wrong with translating stuff [IMG]

I like the double ss cause it makes the s (not z) pronunciation more obvious. At least I think it should be pronounced that way.

Just got to thinking about this, when reflecting back on those DVDs I'll eventually wanna get...

Anyone who has official subs of SMJ, how do they write things?

BakaMattSu, Still finds "Obi-chi Kenobi" funny...

    10) BakaMattSu (uh... was sadly edited from the subs?)

Wow! I never thought I'd get the answer to that one!!

BakaMattSu, still fuming over that complication of legalities that forced the producers to cut out his extra scene...

Ne, Matt, what scene would that be?

Oh and last time I didn't see question 11. The answer to that one is Gennai

That'd be the scene where I take hold of a resistance movement against Geltland, waving an anti-crab flag, of course!

They originally had me as a stand in for Hanagata, but then decided to cut the scene from the finished product...

    BakaMattSu, it's true - I swear!

((hehee I like this face. It looks like a little baby face))

    O_______O;

So that's why there's a little continuity jump in Episode 12! They took out a huge battle scene with Matt wearing a purple bow, waving an anti-crab flag and singing "la marseillaise!"

Dude did anyone preserve this outtake? I wanna down load it!

Also, were you standing in as a stunt double for Hanagata? I know he says he did all his own stunts but well... people do talk.

To answer the first question - no. I had discussed the possibility of adding it to the DVD collection in an "outtakes" section... That's when they told me the original shots had been lost... If I find a bootleg, tho...

The answer to the second is also no. A 4' 4" Turnip was a little noticable in place of Hana...

BakaMattSu, people TALK?! So that's what those mouth-things are for...!

well, the post about the official subs anwers a lot. If you look closely, you'll see that every one matches what I said my preferences were. Obviously this means that they listened to me when they made them. Or that I blindly let the official sub dictate my preferences. Or that great minds think alike [IMG] Obviously, there mind is great, cause they did a sub not a dub, and as for me..

hmm... that's too bad, Matt. I would have loved to see the scene. Perhaps one of the actors saved a copy? I'd ask around.

*blinks* .... Turnip? Oh I don't know, stick a blond wig on a turnip and add a bow and it's not very noticible at 3000 feet above or below...

    *pat pat's Otaru's back*

Actually, I think they did do a dub of SMJ. It's just (oddly) harder to find.

    Looking "closely" I found:

    Mamiya said "Gartland"
    Realsub was "Gartlant"

Cloose! Real close, but apparently you don't agree on the name of the German country...

    Their mind, right?

BakaMattSu, this post was only made to pick apart MO's "Smarty Brains"... [IMG]

Well,no one asked for my opinion, but I'm giving it anyway (because I'm that kinda guy [IMG]).

1)Gotta go with Terra II (or,as I like to refer to it,Terra 2) on this one.

    2)Gartlant

3)Definately Luchs. If fits better with the Gernman theme for Gartlant, and I got real freaked out by "Looks" [IMG]

4)Tiger. Hell, that's my cat's name, how could it possibly be wrong?! [IMG]

5)Yumeji - on the strength of the Japanese pronounciation alone...

6)Japoness - dunno why,but just one 's' sticks in my craw for some reason...

7)Goeddel - reminds me of Hermann Goering for some strange reason...

8)Obiichi Soemon - again, based on the Japanese pronounciation...

9)I waffle on this one. I could go for either Maiden Circuit or Otome Kairo. "Maiden" seems to me to be a more accurate translation of "Otome," and I'm not freaky enough to tolerate hybridization of terminology...

10)BakaMattSu,but it's your SN,and you can pronounce it however you want to...

    11)Xi'an and yet,I can't give a solid reason why...

InuYasha - who spent 6 years studying Japanese and still isn't fluent. What is the world coming to?

And looking again thru sites again, I found it!

Witness the real Jedi Character from SMJ:

    http://www.hamanime.de/smj.html

BakaMattSu, updating his site script and going slightly nuts at the same time...
