There are currently eleven volumes available at Japanese bookstores. I'm not sure when the next volume comes out, but unless things have changed the series is still being released in Japan.

There are currently enough chapter releases to clock in at around 13 volumes. ^^

    And Takaya-sensei ain't done yet. ;)

*sighs* I have the first 11 tankoubon, but it's taking me a very long time to read them, mainly because I have no translations. I'm not even trying to read to get complete meaning. I'm just going for the gist of things at the moment.

It kinda makes me sad because I can't participate in 2/3rds of the discussions about Fruits Basket because people keep bringing in the manga story which I don't know about and I'm just not the kind of person who wants spoilers.

Now we have 12 volumes! I went to Asahiya the other day and wasn't able to find it (it's either sold out or just not in stock for various reasons) so I'm a bit saddened.

The cover features the cutie pie Ricchan on it. ^^

That is an adorable picture of the monkey boy, even if he does dress like a girl. We love him anyway, right?

Heh heh, yet another thing to look for at Anime Expo....I am going to be so broke.

....wait, I already am broke. Dang.

That sounds about right, but I'm not entirely sure on the dates. I know it's coming out in the first quarter though.

    *pats Kaori-chan on the shoulder.*

^_^ Kaori-chan when do you want you books back? And when are you gonna explain what happens?! You know I missed a lot, not being able to read Japanese and all.
Ayame is so much hotter in manga. 'cept the eyes. I love his green eyes and they just aren't there. Stupid black and white.
lol. P.S. Kyou-kun is still my first choice.

Well, I have through volume 13 (although I haven't read all of them, sadly. Haven't read, well...most of them, actually. Anyway...). I don't know if there are more beyond that, but I'm pretty sure there are going to be, if there aren't already.

    Hope that answers your question!

Untranslated manga usually runs for between $5 and $8 in the US, depending on where you purchase it from. Some sites, like animaxis.com, will sell manga and other merchandise at lower prices, but the shipping is usually higher (Animaxis is located in Japan, you see).

Some series are more expensive, and this can be for any number of reasons. Generally it will be because the volumes are larger in size or have more colored pages. Another main reason is because there isn't a set price that American vendors have to charge for imported goods, so some stores will mark things up more than others.

Anime Gamers is a good site, and I add my recommendation to Kawaii-neko163's. They have some of the best prices online outside of stores in Japan. Also, I can more or less vouch for the quality of the English translation of Fruits Basket, so I encourage those who don't know Japanese to pick it up when it comes out. Please support the anime industry in America.
