So Im sitting her watching Evangelion. My TV is turned up rather loud.

    *spoiler*
Its at the part where Shinji thinks he killed the pilot of Eva 4 and is about to discover who it is.

    Shinji see's the pilot.

I suddenly remember how this episode ends. With a hideous, blood curdling scream.

Suddenly I hear the door unlock.

    My Landlady is home.

    "Hi Scott!"

    Shinji screams.

    "SCOTT!!! ARE YOU OK?!"

Long story short I almost gave her what would have been her second heart attack.

Anyone else got any funny stories like that?

    ********Spoiler********

Well, I don't know if it's "funny" but I was rewatching Death and Rebirth and EoE, when my uncle walks in. Now, get this, he's religious to the point of being able to stand sitting through a two hour sermon...for a one verse parable. If you don't go to church, that's plain nuts...and that's not including the reading of the gospel, the hymns...and such. Now...he walks in when Shinji is pretty much at the crossroads between killing the world or letting it live.

So, anyway, he walks in and asks why it looks like a sort of cross, already suspicious of my watching. And since the Tree of Life is blood red and evil looking and yucky...he was REALLY suspicious. So I sez to him, "Oh, that's just one little boy on the crossroads of merging with that big white thing to become God."

Then the shizzle hit the fan in the nutziest way. I explain what happens and how it sorta ends...well, as far as my theory goes...and I end up with a one and a half hour lecture about no human could wield the power of God and decide what Shin-man decided. And, there's that other day when he asked me what the bad guys were, because I think he was writing to his church about...err...Evangelion and how it's bad...so I say..."Jiisan, they're called Angels."

Then the shizzle hit the fan again. LOL. It was pretty funny how harrowed he was....but in trade for those almost four hours of lecture...I'd rather have shut up.

Ouch! You think you would have realized that some pretty convincing bullshit was needed, then and there!!!

I guess I have it pretty easy with relatives... they either don't care, or...

one time my Grandma ended up watching the first third of Mononoke and didn't bat an eye.

I tell you, its bloody eerie watching an old woman giggle when someone gets decapitated.

The worst I've had to deal with are total idiots. One family friend who was staying at our cottage... she's at least in her mid 40s... so she should be sorta smart now, right? No. She comes in to see me watching the previews on an ADV DVD.

    "What are you watching?"
    "Japanese animation."
"... Are they singing in Japanese?!"
    "Yes."
    "Why?"
"Because its originally from Japan, which has Japanese as a first language."
    "Why are their noses pointed?"
"Its the art style, I guess."
    "Is he the hero?"
    "I don't know, this is a preview."
    "Is he the villan?"
    "I don't know, this is a preview."
    "Is she the hero's girlfriend?"
    "I don't know, this is a preview."
    "What happens in that series?"
"I dont know, this is a preview."
"Aren't you too old to be watching cartoons?"
"No, anime is more mature and a lot of it is meant for adults."
    "PORN?!"
    "No."
    "Then what?"
"Stuff like this isn't always G-Rated."
    "Prove it."
"Ok. *I flick to the scene where Eva 1 eats the angel*"
    "Not impressed."
"Ok. *I take out the DVD, put in Akira, and show the scene where Kaori gets crushed in Tetsuo's expanding girth*"
".... Thats pretty graphic. But Im still not impressed! Some of todays tv shows can be pretty graphic!"
*I flick to the scene where Kaori is sexually abused by The Clowns*
    "Ok, you win."
    "Yep."
"... So could my son ever watch any of this?"
"While their are anime series meant for children, given the things you let him watch, not really."
    "What do you mean?"
"He's nearly 4 and only just getting into Bob the Builder."
    "So?"
"When I was 4 I was into Transformers."

For the record, her son still isn't potty trained.

I'm guessing the person who made that picture had a boyfriend who commented on Rei's sexyness.

    I have.

I love every damn second of it... (well, the beginning was rather nasty, but other than that...)

Ay laddy, a fine lass was she, but it was only her body which perished. Clearly, in Eva, there are souls. And she talked with Shinji in his world...

I loved the End of Eva with the exception of the live action scenes about the cinema and the streets of whatever city they were shot in. They were a bit pointless in my opinion.

You didn't see Misato walking down the street? :p

I was thinkin' that the real-world scenes were part of the Human Instrumentality. The surreal part in ep. 26 where Shinji is inside himself...they just made it so that it's super surreal, as opposed to animating it.

Wait a minute so is your name Scott, i didn't know that.

Okay so here is my story. I was watching EOE the part when Asuka is beating the cr*p out of the other Evas. You know how she picks one up and breaks its back all the blood drains onto 02, well at that moment my six year old sister and my mom walked into the room. My sister imediatly started crying and my mom yelled at me for watching such an awful show.

kakakaka, actually... a saying that i say well got transmitted to my brother and he's using it nowadays at the wrong time. it's bound to get me in trouble when he says it around someone religous... liek my grandparents.

What does this have to do with Evangelion? When you hear it you will understand.

    the saying:

    "Angels taste like chicken!"

That's my bro's version. Mine was this.

"To an Eva, everything tastes like chicken! Angels, otehr Eva's, even gendo's head!"

Eh... I've had that happen to me before...

In the Gravitation OVA, Schuiichi has a sexual fantasy about... jumping his bones with Yuuki. Somehow, his once really romantic fantasy turns into an S&M session (Against his will!!!) with Schuiichi tied to the bed, about to be whipped by Yuuki who is clad in a leather G-string.

My mother walked in RIGHT at the S&M session... gah.

I guess that's as bad as the time my dad came in right at the scene in Weiss Kreuz where one of the characters (who is really loony) sticks out his tongue to reveal he has razor blades sticking out of his tongue. UGH.

I let my cosin was watching Eva at my house once then my aunt walks in at the part where Unit-01 is eating the angel they left almost automaticly at that point. Then I had to explain the series to here at one point and she is very relgious and over-protective of her children. We were actually watching Eva is secret because he is not allowed to watch anime, cartoonnetwork, fox,any over the rating of PG and he is 13
