All readers of shonen Jump should know that Sandland is coming to an end. And it has been decided that Rurouni Kenshin manga will take its place in November, 2003. For more information see Shonen Jump, July, 2003.:)

er well specificly rurouni means vagabond not wanderer actually its closer to roshi or ronin..."Roshi" means wandering swordsman and "Ronin" means wandering man literally. its a made up word by Watsuki-Sensei.

anyway thats great news that its coming here but im wondering if they'll edit a lot of the language and blood...

*sits down and reads through his Kenshin manga collection again*

I'm sure they will, though I do not know much of the RK Manga's content, I do know that SJ is aimed at younger kids though , or at least I figure it is since theres so much friggin YU-GI-OH GAAAAAAH *kills Yugi* Sorry, I have like 30 Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that came in SJ its just disgusting... dragon ball too... ugh.... ANYWAY if there is a whole lot of blood in RK then yeah, they prolly will. I dunno about the language, how bad it is, they may edit that too. but thank god theyre taking out Sandland, that manga was a piece of crap.

*sighs* i cant stand it when they edit things...

i imagine the quote from the Kyoto Arc:
    Sanosuke: Sh...it...
    Shishio: You are Sh1t...

    Heh, well prepare for
    Sanosuke: Da...rn...
    Shishio: You are darn. (hehehe)

But, I'm not sure Rurouni Kenshin is coming to Shonen Jump as much as it is just to America itself. They only said "Look for the Rurouni Kenshin manda coming this November!!!" They never said "coming to shonen jump this november" so we may see a wave of stand-alone manga rather than SJ. Which I hope is true. Hitokiri_Gensai-san, are the RK mangas very long? For each story? Cuz if so then SJ would have to chop one RK into around 3 or 4 sections, which I don't see happening. Lets pray it'll be stand-alone.

    some spoilers!

well to be specific Viz licenced it so chances are well end up seeing it in graphic novel format. but its fairly long each manga ends up being about 190-200 pages each...each *chapter* is about 20 pages...so about 10 chapters a book. in all there are 28 manga to the series 1 extra manga called Yahiko No Sakabatou and two official guides Hiden and Kaden. theres an extra story in the kaden book as well which basicly sums up what happens after Sano leaves it actually takes place after Yahiko inheiretes the Sakabatou. there are countless doujinshi from the series...many of them Shonen Ai a great deal of Romantic, and a large amount of action types like the original RK...

    actually i expected to see
    Sanosuke: Sh..it
    Shishio: You are Sh1t
    to be watered down to
    Sanosuke:cr..ap
    Shishio: you are crap...
i expect die to be watered down to destroy as in die battousai to i will destroy you battousai...or some shi7 like that... *sighs* oh well i have the whole series already...oh as a side note most likely the manga will be really flimsy so be prepared to either buy another one or have a lot of tape on hand...american manga is really badly bound so it falls apart quite easily...and i hate to see it but i imagine Kenshins "De Gozaru" will be changed to "that i will" which is a terrible interpretation of that...actually in the anime they use that just as a filler to match his mouth movements..."De Gozaru" its actually an older super polite form of "Desu" and his polite old form "sessha" wont be recognized...either...which almost defeats the purpose of his speech...quite a few times Kaoru identifies that Kenshin has regained his Rurouni Self by when he stops using watashi and impolite speech and starts using sessha and de gozaru again...ah well...maybe they should make it a dual language manga...that way they would be able to explain it much easier...

In the subbed vers. of the anime they have it as "that is" and yes they do use it as a filler, much more in the earlier episodes it seems than in the later. I havent seen many later episodes though :(. What I don't understand though is how he came about saying it, he doesn't do it at all in the SX movie T&B. I wish he did though, they don't even mention his scar, or anything that made Kenshin KENSHIN in the dub vers. of that movie... The subbed vers. made the shinsengumi comment his scar and actually call him Battousai once. Plus the same voice actor from the anime did Kenshin's voice, which I thought was good because nobody that does the anime ever does the friggin movie voice acting. *sigh* had to vent that somehow. OH YEAH one more thing... what the CRAP does "oro?" mean? Its apparent that he says it a whole lot.

as i explained before...ORO has no meaning...its a dialect thing...actually i believe its an Kansai thing...because Kenshin is from Kansai...or atleast is assumed to be from....

I don't think they will. After all, it is rated for teens and above. it says so right on the cover. Rated T for Teen. Right on the cover.

well some of its quite extreme...

the swearing in the manga will be edited down for sure...and in the extra story in manga 6 when Hiko Seijuurou kills Lord Iwano the image is incredibly gory...

    *spoiler*

Not to mention the manga episode where Saitou cuts Usui in half and pins the upper part on the wall with his Gatotsu Zero Stance......

    *end spoiler*

Anyway, i've been reading fan-based translations of Kenshin. In the beginning he literally translated "de gozaru yo" as "my pardons" to express Kenshin's politeness.
Though, he did that on purpose because he'd like us to know how annoying the overly polite habit can be.
So after a few episodes he changed it with "i say" which i pretty like...

He probably doesn't' say the "de gozaru" in the T&B movie since he was a hitokiri remember? he was a killer... lol

hai. actually he loses almost all aspects of politeness except he still refers to people using the title "dono". well "I say" would be the old english equivelant of "de gozaru" so... atleast thats how it seems to me...either way i like it...
