    Speaking of Hana Engrish:

    1) "Unbelievable" in ep. 6 of J Again while Lime is beating the tar out of him and the M.E.S.C.A.L. (Inu Pointed this out to me ^^v)

    2) "Welcome!" and perhaps even "Yeehaw!" to the Shirataki Friends League (or whatever the hell they really are called, say my mantra with me "My J to X DVDs suck!")

    3) "Baby" in "Iyokan"

~ Lady Aoi: And probably many more instances I don't recal.

I've always loved some of the lines in Hana's songs with engrish such as
"Super lovely na tokoro ni fu no ejiki" from Senishite

    "JAPONESU RONRII HAATO!!!!!!" and
"Maboroshi no iyokan hakanai ze BEIBEE WOO BEIBEE" from Iyokan

"JAPONESU RIKURIEESHON and JAPONESU REBORYUUSHON" in Kuri Hiroi are classics also ^_________^x

I've gotta get a wave for "GOOT MORNING!!!" and use it as the start up though :p

If you run out of good Hanagata sounds to rip, consider ripping some Ilpalazzo sounds from Excel Saga :) Same voice actor of course.

I hate to nit-pick,but it's actually in ep. 5 of J Again where Lime beats up on the MESCAL (oh,and incidentally,Hanagata).

    Anyway,more Hanagata Engrish sillyness:

    SMJ ep. 1,
"You should let a marionette do the work and enjoy life."

    J Again ep. 3
    "Come on,my honey!"

    SMJ ep. 8,
"And release him from the bonds of those marionette she-devils. Amen.

    InuYasha - Engrish is funny.

So, is Hanagata's casual use of English (Engrish?) kind of the equivalent of some people's casual use of French in a conversation? That is, to sound either intelligent or sophisticated?

I'm becoming a regular Hanagata of the Boards X-D

In all seroiousness, though, the near constant supply of Engrish from Hana-ko is rather comical - just one more of the many exaggerated features of his personality.

And let's not forget "Super lovely" in Sennichite...

And everyone's favorite, the "special item" (turns to stone at the visual image).

Hanagata: Stop calling me goo-goo names! :D :D

Of course,Hana-ko is not the only one who uses Engrish...

Time for a Japanese lesson!!!!! ::holds up boards of crappy drawings like Hanagata in episode 2 of J to X, but everyone pays attention to Yumeji instead:: ._.

In the language of Japanese the last name is always spoken first, then the first name!!! Like for example "Mamiya Otaru" Mamiya is the last name, Otaru first name! But when it is translated, usually its translated as Otaru Mamiya...but in J to X its translated as Mamiya Otaru..can be confusing!

*whimpers* I still feel like an idiot....

Oh, and in Sennichite, Hanagata says "One...two...one two" before he starts playing ^_~.

So then, in Gennai's case, does "Gennai Shiraga" mean that his given name is "Shiraga" and not "Gennai"?

I think you're right. After all, don't they call him Mr. Gennai?

They call him "Gennai jii-chan" or sometimes, "Gen-chan" (usually Bloodberry).

If someone remembers whether Gennai referred to himself as "Shiraga Gennai" or "Gennai Shiraga" in the first ep of SMJ (original Japanese,of course),then we might have a clue...

However,my gut feeling is that "Shiraga" sounds more like a family name than a given name...

I think he says it Gennai Shiraga, but it's been awhile and I don't have my tapes with me now. Baka? Lime? Anyone want to take a shot at this?
