Fruits Basket I loved this series. -_-

This may be a rather lame first post, but I just finished the anime fansub tonight on tape and I just love this series. ;_; This usually isn't the type of series that would draw me in, but for some reason, I just loved Honda Tohru, Momji and Souma Yuki. I despised Souma Akito. I laughed at Souma Shigure, Risa, Momji (stop...the...cuteness...blarg!), Ayame, and Kyou; and I found myself desperately hoping Yuki and Tohru would end up together. -_- It's really weird, because for a guy (and a writer...well, we're working on it) who thinks Hellsing is the bomb, Serial Experiment Lain and Boogiepop Phantom is demented genius, Ranma is amusing but too repetitive...well I mean, for my common genre, it's just so bizarre I found myself really caring about the characers and the story. Something just worked...maybe it hit home, I dunno. Fruits Baskets rules. Lessons on life and all. nuff said here. -_-

On a side note, reading a post or two elsewhere on this board...for those who -have- read to the end of the manga (since the anime stops short), does Tohru end up with Yuki or Kyou, or either? o_O

Hey, it isn't all that strange for a guy to like Fruits Basket. As it stands, I haven't found a person yet who didn't like the series to a greater or lesser extent. And it was a guy who introduced me to the series in the first place (Thanks, UK!)

Anyway, I haven't read the manga past the point where the anime ends, so I have no clue who Tohru ends up with, or if she ends up with anybody. As far as I know the manga is still coming out, so that probably hasn't been resolved.

They do have a pretty fun love triangle going there, though. ^_^

I thought it was fantastic too. I'm a guy, I'm even a mod of the forum here. It is a great series. One of the best I've ever seen. It's got what really counts, whatever you deem that to be. So, yeah. Welcome to the furuba forum.

you scared me when you said love"d", cuz for some stupid reason I thought you found out something happens in the end and spoiled it for you.
Anyway, Im a BIG fan of Fruits Basket and I have all the episodes on my comp. I watched the series twice and the last 3 episodes 5 times. I love the series and love Kyou-kun and Im surpirsed when I see a guy that is interested in this series, cuz I find it like a girlish type of anime. However, Fruit Basket is one of a kind, where its theme relates to everyone and it is "Friendship and acceptance of who you really are" I wish that the series continues and Toharu falls for Kyou ^_^

yea. i really hope Tokyo pop answers yes to my request. I asked them to translate the manga series and they said they'd look into it but i really dunno. i hope they do a great job on it. their translation of kodocha was kind sloppy.

It was a guy who introduced me into it too. It was such a great anime and the manga art is amazing. I wish I either knew Japanese so I could read the manga or had enough money to buy the coming English versions. I'm glad Tokyopop got a hold of it though.

I dont think its weird if guys like this anime cause it's funny and has a lot of different things that makes it enjoyable, ok I can see why it's mostly a girls anime but that doesn't make it illegal for guys to watch it, if a girl would watch an anime with a lot of violence and blood it wouldn't be weird right, everyone got different taste and yes I like this anime

    *sigh*

I deleted all the episodes before burning them in a CD. But thank God that I saw it all before I do so. *goes to d/l them again*

I have the whole set. I thought I was going to be thinking "Eh..." when I first saw Fruits Basket, since it seemed excruciatingly "cute" and I don't usually like that kind of thing. I was pleasantly surprised to see how wonderful it was and how it avoided a lot of cliches it could have used.

Can't wait for the manga to come out here in the United States so I can have more Furuba. :)
