I think the package TINRA (This Is Not Real Audio) might be what you are looking for...

Or there's the now-discontinuted StreamBox Ripper that did exactly that... RealMedia dropped a big anvil on them though, so they no longer are allowed to distribute it... But you can get an old version here.

That's stupid converting Real Audio to mp3. No matter what file format you put it to, it will always sound as sh*tty as Real Audio will always sound like.

yes, but then you won't need realplayer to listen to it :D

Several possibilities, in addition to the ones mentioned:
Play it in realplayer, and use Total Recorder to capture the audio (saves as a wav.)

Get the Tara Winamp plugin for realmedia (which also does video :) ) and use winamp's disk-writer plugin to save it as a wav. While it is possible to use the plugin without having realplayer installed, it is rather hard to do. Unless you know how, it's just best to have realplayer installed; at least you can use Winamp to wach/listen to stuff

IMO, it isn't "best" to have ANY Real crap on the computer at all. :D

Err, I don't know if this works, but what about those media editing programs? Or do those not read .rm and such files as well?
