    Hey!
It's my first time on this site and I need some help. I want to design a kick-a$$ costume for my halloween party, and I need a good and simple cosplay costume that won't cost me too much. As you can probably see I am a University Student in Canada and I do not have much money to my name. So please help me out! :)

What do you sort of look like, what types of clothing do you own, and what animes do you like? We know you aren't a girl, so I won't say Ryoko from Tenchi for example, but as far as hair lenth, etc, eye colour.. height.. if you are going cheap.. you can always go as some character from Wolf's Rain or a guy from Chobits..

Go as a convention goer who can't afford a costume and just wear normal clothes. Works every time.

Failing that, gundams built from cardboard boxes are always a big hit.

    oopsies...

Uh oh... I put a post just like this at the same time up... but in recreation...

    that's a bad thing isn't it???

I want to be Blue for Halloween, but I can't find any patterns. I have character sketches to help me out from all angles, but I need patterns. Anyone know where I can find one?

Uh... is it okay that I put this type of post in Recreation??? :dizzy2:

Uhh, I've got a similar problem. I want to go to Anime North as Otaru Mamiya, from Saber Marionette J. Viewable here.

But I can't find a costume shop in Edmonton that will custom-make costumes! I can't even find clothing similar enough to make it myself! Can anyone help me?

But as for you, Sleeper_awake, I could suggest you go as Inuyasha, like everybody else. You can get one of those costumes in every dime store now.

I'd advise running into a Fabricland or a similar store and just having fun once you have decided what you want to go as. For Mamiya Otaru, just buy a similar pair of pants and shirt and modify. I'd cut down the front of the shirt even and add on yellow fabric I bought. I'd find some gloves at a garage sale and cut the fingers off and sew red fabric along the wrists and I'd find some extra large black tank-top somewhere to get that baggy look going. If you want to work from scratch with no pattern, look at similar clothes you own and cut pieces of fabric .. I don't know.

Ugh, I just wish I had any kind of sewing skill. Thanks for the tip, though. I'll look into it. Although a place that would make the costume for me would be better.

Well, for starters, I am 6'1'' with blue eyes and light brown hair. My hair is upper neck length and I am willing to dye my hair any colour (lol good ol friends with a bunch of hair colours!)

    Ideas!

I agree with Ciel, working from scratch always makes the best cosplay. That way every fits you just so, and since you know the character better than a costume maker, its bound to be more precise.

But as far as "ideas," I think Ed from Bebop is a really quick and easy costume. Just get some black stretch pants, cut them off and hem. Then get a baggy T-shirt and alter that a bit. To pull it off, have green eye goggles, an ein, or a fake computer with you. The hair might be a problem. You can dye your hair red, but it will NEVER be that poofy! (For most people!)

The only easy guy cosplay I can think of is one of the guys from Digi Charat. Their outfits are pretty simple, and with some creativity and the help of some Goodwill clothes, you could pull off some cosplay. You can even buy their cat hats at the mall or online. My friend got one at Waldenbooks, and they're not too expensive.

Or Gravitation! A lot of the clothes they wear are sort of "normal," so you might be able to find them in you or your friend's closet. Then, get some pink hair, carry a mike, and everybody will know who you are! You'll get glomped by fangirls a lot too!

Just some thoughts, I hope you like some of the above anime!

    Super easy costume?

    Takumi from Initial D

    Itsuki from Initial D

Or be like these guys and be a whole group! FROM INITIAL D!

    Oe Kintaro from Golden Boy

Ikari Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion
    [IMG]

HOWEVER, if you want to be extremely cool and be simple at the same time...

    ROCK LEE from Naruto!!!!!

Truth to tell, good cosplay is always hard and not "easy". I've never seen an easy looking cosplay look really good. NEVER.

The horror of some Dôgakon cosplayers...:glazed:

Anyhow, I could suggest these following:

    Jin - Tekken Series

Just take your shirt off, put on your normal blue/black, white/black, red/black trousers, some really cool red gloves, and spike your hair up, and you're done.

    Shinji - Neon Genesis Evangelion

As mentioned from above. Really simple, just a shirt, and some pants. Done.

Or the best is probably. Go as yourself, a normal Otaku, going to a Halloween party :)

Unless you're trying to do Shinji in his plug suit. Then it's a giant pain in the arse. @_@

    Easy ideas

I have some ideas for Blue, but I was wondering...

    Rank 1-5...

How hard do you think it will be to make her outfit? I am going to start looking for some patterns today (or so I think).

So, hard or not? 1(no)-5(need a miracle)

Kokoro, are you going to make her costume or go to a store like Cleo/Ricki's? not sure what clothing stores you have around. It depends on your own confidence in the project, I'd give it a 1 or almost a 2.

    Confidence?

The only clothing shops with stuff for Blue are REALLY expensive. I'm making my costume from scratch. We're trying to find some patterns for normal clothing then change them to fit Blue's standards.

I think the best cosplay clothing are the ones that you make yourself. Then the costume is custom and only for you!

PS, thanks for the grade, I think this Halloween is going to be the best ever!

    Sleeper Awake,
It sounds to me like you'd be a good Heero from Gundam(sp) wing. Here's a pic of him.

EDIT: P.S. Sorry it was so big. ^.^

Rockina, thanx for the idea! I'll send you pictures regardless of how they come out. ;) Kos-Mos I love your idea too, since I served a lil in the Army I have come across a good amount of Olive muscle shirts, so thanks for that idea too. I also came up with an awesome! SUPA GEKI idea! Well, I was thinking, maybe Wolfwood from Trigun? I actually have the clothes ready, I can easily get the cross and all made, all I need is a lot of Mercy :p
    Here's a pic.
