YO y'all! Today I've decided that I am going to start an RPG-Anime club in my collage. The only problem is NO ONW KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT RPGS AND ANIME!!!!!!:anger2: the pain!!!
Well actually I managed to find three guys who actually play the game.
:D But the problem is that we are ONLY four and I'm the ONLY girl. (yeah yeah I'm a girl) and those guys are no co operation at ALL. So here's the story: I want to teach those so called university geeks what it means to like an RPG. That's why I need suggestions so as to what activities to do in the club. Just give me an idea so that I'll be able to boost some life into my crap of a club. This may sound BOring and I know it, but please, for the sake of Rpg and anime, please help me out. :(

Do you mean actual RPG's, like Dungeons and Dragons? If so then make sure that you start out with an interesting campaign which will make them want to come back. And have the club like once a week on a day that everyone agrees to and when none of them will be busy. And the RPG games will probably each take like an hour each, or more if people want to play them longer. And maybe show an episode of anime every week too, and if the group members are really into that episode then see if they want to watch the next one and shorten the RPG session for that week...

Big thing is getting the night of the week when your club can all get together.
When I was back in school many moons ago, we had a RPG sorta club.
We met at a friends house once, sometimes twice a week (mostly on the weekends).
We played a lot of D&D---one of the guys in our group was a really good dungeon master, and came up with some really wicked campaigns.
We also played a lot of Star Fleet Battles and Space Marines.
All these games can take up alot of time and can really get your club rolling.
The VCR/TV thing would be good for the Anime side of your club. Maybe you can have members bring in different videos and alternate gaming with viewings.
You might want to stay away from video games in your club. True RPG's have aways been a group of friends around a table testing their ability to think on the spot----PS2/XBOX is cool, but shouldn't be part of a RPG club.

    Hope this helps.

The worst thing for RPG playing is distractions. You'll want your group to immersed in the storyline, and if members have an alternative nearby like a television, they might be drawn to it instead of the game.

Set up "shop" in a nice quiet area with a lot of comfortable table room. For your first Roleplaying session, don't bog down players with all the rules at once. Create a small adventure where you slowly build the characters together stat-by-stat, explaining them as you go...

What does that mean? Cite the following example:

GM: You all wake up groggy, your minds in desrepair. The first thing you notice is that you aren't along. Somewere in the near-complete-darkness you notice you aren't alone.

(At this point, the Game Master encourages the playes to describe each of their appearances. From these, he gets a little bit of an idea at to what race/class they are, and as they work together to figure out how they ended up there, he slowly puts them through tests of their Strength, Stamina, and Speed - having them roll them up before each test and adding them to their sheet.)

As for anime, I'd suggest somewhere where it's good to watch. Keep it seperate from the RPG nights, and start off with some dubs on hand. Variety is the key at first. Bring in a bit of everything, and then have the club decide what to continue watching, and what to can.

Let us all know how things go, Yorae!

Hey! Thanks for all the help, really there are many nice people on this page. :D I'm having my midterms these days so I guess My first actions towards the club would start next week. I'm readying posters and all and I've decided to hold a tiny opening celebration, the only problem is that I NEED LABOR!!!

I don't know if this is any good, but would it be a good idea to hold up something as a game library? I mean to stuff games and animes of shelves and you know lend them?
I also thought of doing some Rpg contests, but I'm not sure how. My rival club held a soccer match and got things all worked up, but as for me I'm not sure how to do it.

The Library of Lending might be a good idea, if you make sure the stuff'll get back. Not that I'm not trusting or anything, but make sure you have enough contact info in order to trace a borrower, if it turns out he has it a little "too long"... But it is a good way for members to experience stuff on their own time - group watching is nice and all, but it can be nicer to experience things on your own, too.

Hmm...ever ran an RPG tournament style? Plan the gaming session ahead of time, and create all the characters yourself. When the players arrive, give each a folder containing their character information (sheet & possibly secret info, pics, maps, a minature, or anything specific for them). Tell them to keep the info to themself, but they are allowed to roleplay any of it out.

Pay attention to who best roleplays their character, awarding secret points for their accomplishments or general good characterization.

At the end, you could award to those who racked up the most points. :p
