If you could train in any martial arts? Which one would you choose? I was kinda bored so I started this :sweat2:

I'd take Kung Fu, In those fighting games I always take the character that trains in it. I like the moves :)

Bruce Lee does his own style, based off wushu and...err...something else. But, *his* style is called Jeet Kun Do, or "Way of the Intercepting Fist".

I'd probably do iaido, if I could choose a sword art. Why? Well, I want to be like Kenshin! Well, I think that's what it's called. The quick draw of a sword. Hehehe.

If it had to be unarmed, I'd choose Kempo/Kenpo. It's a little more edged towards being effective in a street fight.

    Kendo.

    I love swords.
    I own swords.
I can use swords, but its ugly. Kendo teaches tricks of the trade, implants dicipline, and makes all that slashing look pretty.

plus you get to learn that cool gliding move they have

I'd like to do either Jeet Kun Do, because I'd like to be able to fight like Spike, or else Aikido, it's samurai in style, you learn weapons including the sword, and it's cool. Failing those two, ninjitsu, art of the shinobi.

I would definantly choose Aikido, since my friend takes lessons and she and my dad are trying to convince me to take lessons. It sounds pretty fun, I might actually try it...

I'd have to choose Shoulune temple fighting (dont know the correct spelling).
anyway its the one that that little chinese kid uses in G Gundam and my friend does it too and he recommends it to everyone

but i'm more of a basketball dude myself so its kinda hard to fit anything in.

If you're being invited, go for it. Even if you'll never get in a fight, if you commit a little, you'll cut weight, increase stamina and flexibility, find concentration you never knew you had, and be able to do all those funny poses for real.

A munchkin role-player (munchkin as in stat-obsessing, min-maxing, lucky dice rolling freak, not midget) who properly tweaks his character makes Neo look like a pansy.:)

Heh, I now have an opportunity to take a beginner's course in karate, so I'll be taking that.

However, I'd like to learn all the martial arts! ^^ Did you know that you can make up your own martial art and if you open a school, and people join, you can insist on having it added?

If that makes no sense, it's because when I think something's really cool, I have trouble expressing the l337-/V355.

My fighting style before having any training (except for football) was basically punch in the stomach, never do any cheapshots, kick, and tackle. It earned me the respect of the boys in my school, since I loathed the stupid, constant, insipid gossiping of most of the schoolgirls.

    Martial Arts, W007! ^o^V

Judo is the anti martial art in some ways.

    It's all about negating attacks.

I thought aikido was redirecting attacks and judo was using momentum of your opponent. All pretty much the same thing. ^_^

M_T, yes, that is basically true. But, that must be an extremely hard proposition, because it'll have to be approved and original. I'd think the Grand Masters of other martial arts would be rather pissed that you keep incorporating techniques of theirs into your own. However, this *IS* the basis of Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu, better known as "Anything Goes Martial Arts" founded by Happosai in Ranma ½. It's anything and everything that a martial artist learns.

If I had to describe my "style" it's somewhere along the lines of "sit back and let the little bugger take shots until he realizes he hasn't hurt you (thick skin & taut muscles under fat = tank armour :D ) then hit once, usually solar plexus"

I'd love to learn kendo and swordfighting. That'd be the shiznak, I could throw up a piece of wood, hack away and make a statue before it hits the ground (reffering to Motoko from the Love hina manga #3). Heh, I know they can't do that (or can they?), but still, it would be awesome just to be a professional swordsman.
