Which story line do you like best?

Indiana Jones is my favorite, Harrison Ford does a really good job as that character. Lara Croft the Tomb Raider is just a copycat in my opion of Indiana, she tries to hard to be a girl with attitude.

Lara Croft is just Indiana Jones with breasts. Jones will always be the original, and his movies made a lot more sense. The one advantage Croft has is that her butler's really cool.

Indiana Jones. It's nice to have heroines, but I must admit Indy is the original and supreme adventure hero! ^-^d

    Indiana Jones.

    Why?

    Damn, his hat is cool.

Well, that and his attitude, whip, gun, humor and all.

    Oh, and Harrison Ford.

Here's the family tree of the ruin-exploring archetype.
It all started with Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford made this character the well-known, well-loved hero that he is with his three amazing performances, with a bit of help, of course, from long-time co-worker George Lucas.
Years went by, and then the Tomb Raider games hit the PSX. These games featuring Lara Croft, a female counterpart of sorts to Dr. Jones. Of course, she didn't have the cool hat or whip, but she had two things that some would argue made up for this.
Anyway, after the success of several Tomb Raider sequels, the movie hit theatres, and it was actually kind of fun. Then a sequel to that arrived, which I personally have no intention of ever seeing.
And then there's Tomb Raider's unwanted child, "Relic Hunter", a TV series starring Tia Carrere (the same actress who played Cassandra in Wayne's World). This is like a sick, twisted amalgamation of both Jones and Croft. Here we have a university professor (like Jones), with large breasts (like Croft). Croft is English, so is the assistant from RH. Indy had a cool hat, RH has had people with cool hats before (okay, now I'm just pulling random comparisons, but you get the idea).

Yeah, a mean pair of guns. :p

But it's no comparison. Tomb Raider owes Indiana Jones for its existence. Without Indiana, there'd be no Lara. Face it.

And don't forget Spielburg was onboard for those movies as well - that name lends a certain quality to things. Haven't seen anything he was in on turn out to be bad.

To think he was interested in doing a 007 movie, and told his buddy Lucas... George turned to him and said, "forget that, I've got something even better." And we ended up with Dr. Jones.

Jones is better. Especially compared to the crap the 007 guys keep spilling out nowadays.
Wasn't Spielburg only on the third movie, or was it the second as well? Can't remember.

    Nope, you're mistaken there, Novus.

All three Indy movies had Lucas on the writing staff, and Spielburg directing. A great combination, that one.

That quick story I gave earlier was a chat the two had before Raiders of the Lost Ark was out.

The upcoming fourth movie is to be done co-operatively by the same dynamic duo as well...

What's going on with the fourth movie, anyway? Who's playing whom? And what the plot about? I have no idea, and I've heard rumours contradicting each other.

    Details are still not leaked.

The only tidbits that are certain are:
-Slated to be in theatres 2005
    -Spielburg Directing
    -Lucas Writing
    -Frank Darabont on the Screenplay
    -John Williams composing the music
    -Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones

The script is under revision, and the movie is still in pre-production, so anything further would likely not be decided on.

What's the plot? Does it involve Indy's old girlfriends, his son, his dad, and his dog? Who knows.

Indiana Jones is way better because Indy has a reason to be out there hunting treasure....while Lara needs to be on a private jet plane somewhere!! Where is the pride and glory? Only Indy captures that true treasure hunter spirit!

    Ah... the fedora.
I really liked the story behind it. The cross of Coronado.

I like those movies because they provide us with a background on the heroes. They're people like you and me and have problems like you and me...

Indiana having problems with his father... Dr. Henry Jones was too busy with his grail hunting to pay attention to his wife.

Those tidbits of drama are what make a story wonderful. Because you really get to empathize with the characters.

I really loved the Indiana Jones movies! Altho the stories have become somewhat cliché (find the ancient artifact before the evil guy rules the world - narf!), i liked Indiana's idealism.

"It belongs in a museum!" :)

Too bad that in the videogame Fate of Atlantis, IMHO, they turned him into a coldblooded murderer - somewhat... (like that giant boulder rolling over Arnold)

    Anyway, Indiana Jones rulz!

lol. can you imagina Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones? I'm happy they casted Harrison Ford for the part. anyways, Jones has more character and attitude then Lara ever will have. and I'd like to see Sean Connery in the 4th movie too!

Since everyone here loves Indiana more, how about we say what one of his movies is your favorite. Mine is " The Last Crusade " (go Sean Connery).:D

I would have to say in my opinion. Probably the Last Crusaid. Reason? um, it was funny to see Indiana with his dad, and ummmm b/c the part with the religious test thing was neat to see.

I loved 'The Last Crusade' because Sean Connery was in it as well, and I loved the scene when Indy said all this stuff about the Museum Curator, Marcus Brody, and then his Dad asks 'is that all true about him?' and Indy goes 'You kidding? the guy got lost in his own museum once' lol.

and John Rhys-Davies is cool: Sallah -'what? you are named after the dog?'
