  1. The pulled-from-the-market-almost-immediately Jungle Emperor
    soundtrack set is on ebay:

I know Tomita asked that this set be pulled from the market, but I
would not part with my copy for anything. The sound is marred by
artificial stereo, which generally gives it a hollow quality, but
it's usually enjoyable and very clear at times. (At least it isn't
heavily distorted like the current Jungle Emperor DVDs.)

  2. Do this disc include the theme song in english. What
label is it on and how bad does it really sound. Bye
the bye check out www.wadegordon.com and hear some of
his music on the radio progam.

As for the label it's on Bandai and I don't see why it would have the
english or any other language version since it was prepared from the
Japanese market from presumably the master tapes Tomita submitted to the
studio and that stuff would have been prepared by some third overseas party

Pretty much the issue was never that it sounded bad in itself, it was
that it was made up of the mono recordings Tomita submitted for the
actual production of the series which were never intended to be
repackaged and sold to the public as a collectors set. The set also
featured his name featured very prominantly when in actuality it was
material he never authorized by him for release. (The "Jungle Taitei
Symphonic Poem" was the official public release of this material and the
1997 spinoff "Jungle Emperor Leo" CD is very much a Tomita supervised CD
also). So I think everything revolved around the strong impression the
set made that Tomita was approving music he had never actually intended
    for album release.

There was a one CD release in 1998 of similar material by Toshiba which
was never pulled off the market as far as I know but appears to be out
of print by now. The material was said to be of poorer fidelity and
there was a possibly big difference that the packaging only mentions in
some small interior credits that Tomita was the composer, the exterior
and obi do not mention his involvement, and it was part of a big series
of separate CDs of old TV anime soundtracks.

Also I'm near certain there is a release somnewhere of Tomita's music to
"Big X" a lesser known Tezuka anime from the 60s. I've seen a cover
illustration of it and "Wonder 3" combined, the latter Tomita did not
score. Maybe it's just a single but I have seen something from it
illustrated and of course the theme is on several anime collections
along with Tomita's other Tezuka themes?

As for the opposite of an overseas theme song, I noticed Tomita seems to
have done the Japanese version theme music for "Lassie" and there was a
    single of it :)

  4. Thanks for the info, but I really did not find out if
it is worth the effort or not. I really did the
    "Kimba the white Lion" theme.

    Best wishes,

Then take a trip over to my site, www.kimba.us . If all you want is
the theme, click on the Music button. You'll find both versions of
the 1966 American theme, the 1965 Japanese themes (opening and
closing), the theme written for the 1993 Canadian re-dubbing, Kimba
themes from other countries, and the Japanese opening and closing
themes for the 1989 remake series. Of all these, Tomita was only
responsible for the 1965 Japanese themes.

There's also several selections from the Kimba soundtracks, and some
from the sequel to Kimba, known in English as Leo The Lion. These
    were written by Tomita.

It looks like whoever got the CD set got it for the minimum bid,
which was the same as the selling price when it was released. Good
    for him.

I forgot to mention that on the Video Clips page, there's a video
file of the Kimba theme as well, in either Real or Windows Media
format. This is not 100% authentic, however, since every copy I have
seen of this (including the current home videos) is badly faded. So I
edited together an unfaded version from the Japanese laserdiscs, but
I did not have the means to animate the title like the original.

You'll also find the animation that accompanied Tomita's original
theme, and a couple of other musical selections Tomita wrote.

  7. Well, I was rather curious about what the music
sounded like and thank you for providing the trip down
memory lane. I did not realize that I was exposed to
Isao Tomita's music at an early age. When I get the
chance and talk to him again I will bring this up.

    Happy Holidays,

    Wade Gordon

MP3 of the theme song in english to a wave file and
burn it onto a c.d.? I wish to you the song in an up
coming radio project. I will conpensate you for your
    trouble.
