    * A lot of people are saying that Rumiko-san has stretched the InuYasha series too far, and has drawn it out for too long. Like butter over too much bread..

    * I was just wondering what some of you thought about that. Do you agree? Disagree? Please post your thoughts (^~^)

I think it has gotten a bit of DBZ syndrome in it, although I still think it's better than a lot of anime out there.

I need to get watching it again, though. Last episode I saw was that one where he got the Backlash Wave. x.X

I don't think so. I have yet to read the manga but the anime is great. See with DBZ the story starts over and over. Inuyasha one story. I would like it to never end.

OH LOOK THERE'S A SHIKON SHARD BUT CRAP A BAD GUY'S GOT IT LET'S KILL HIM OK WE KILLED HIM AND GOT THE SHARD AND OH LOOK ANOTHER SHARD LET'S GET IT BUT CRAP A BAD GUY...

More or less. :p That's VERY simplified, but you look at the basic plot of most of the earlier episodes and it's plain to see.

At least it's entertaining to watch the repetition in Inuyasha. :p

    ROFL~

I liked it when it was making progress.. then they kinda repeated the same scenario with a (sort of) different character over and over, most of the time, yes, it did have a shard involved and some bad guy oh noooo!

But they were always finding Naraku, and it never turned out to be him.. so we saw the seemingly final battle... like.. 30 times. There comes a point where one ceases to care. And at that point.. Naraku disappears.. and they stall the story by adding some side story to the mix that will eat up a couple of episodes while they think of where to go with the plot.. where can they make you think they've found Naraku next time?

I say.. kill someone off, mix it up a little. How about Shippou? He's good for.. eh.. NOTHING?

    it does..and it's annoying.

and in the end they don't even finish what they started out to do in the first place. which is a real pain in the ass.

Yeah, InuYasha is still one of my favorite anime, but I can see what your getting at, it, InuYasha gets repitive and there is some episodes tha really could have been cut out.. but it does keep the story line throught most of the serise.. and with Naraku, it kinnda has two differnt story lines.. but yeah, after they find a Jewal Shard then there is someone else that comes along.. yadda yadda.. but like if the other person didn't come along.. what would they do.. go hiking through the hills..?

I view it as a bad guy has the shard. Why because they are drawn to it. It gives them power. :p And no all the people who have the shards are bad. Kouga and others who naraku give them too. :p It follows one set story line. Get the soul shards. It doesn't take them 20 or more episodes to get one soul shard or what is considered a season unlike DBZ. :p The shikon no tama was shattered. For those who have shattered things you know how many pieces it goes into a lot. See it may seam like it is stretched. But like I said I like it more then bad guy comes 20 or so episodes his butt is finally kicked. Next season another bad guy comes and so on like DBZ. I am glad it went on for a while. I just like how Inu Yasha is. You got to admit he is very entertaining.

Ya it's entertaining enough, and you're right about that plot, it has a reason to be stretched out, but they could have condensed it, and gotten the same point across.. The DBZ that i see in it is how everyone just keeps getting more powerful for no really great reason.. and it happens so frequently that an enemy gets like 20 shards, and is still defeated, that the effect of the power of the jewel is somewhat diminished because you're used to it.

Just like DBZ: "Hey I'm the strongest sentient being ever period! Wow I sure am glad." "Oh? Well watch me turn into a huge monster thing that looks vaguely similar to that last guy you fought." "OH MY DEAR SWEET LORD I guess we'll have to go on a quest or something.. oh nevermind so-and-so just spoon-fed us a lot of extra power out of nowhere, false alarm, we can keep the plot barren and simple afterall, thank the high heavens." "Oh, oh that's okay, because now I'm gonna transform AGAIN, what now?" "Oh yeah?! I'm a giant monkey!" "Oh yeah!?" ** On the next episode of Dragonball Z ** blah blah.

Anyway, apply that to Inuyasha, coz it happens a lot.
It's not as bad of a story though, that's fact.

Yeah I remember those days when I thought DBZ was the greatest show around and then I guess after awhile I did notice how repetitive the series really was. I actually stopped watching the show (Cartoon Network) in the middle of the Trunks saga (when future Trunks first appears). However, now watching Inuyasha there are times when I finish watching an episode and I'm like, " I could of taken a nap or something..." But i do love the show and yeah like DBZ it does take awhile to get the major episodes moving and getting along but I enjoy Inuyasha very much so.

Oh yeah Shippou is such very annoying!

You have to admit, Inuyasha has been kinda repetitive... The Band of Seven arc livens things up... *coughkikyoucough*

I can't believe Naraku isn't dead yet. At least DBZ got new villains, Naraku gets kinda old after awhile. But then if they got rid of Naraku, Sango's problem would be solved, the Wind Tunnel would be gone, Kikyou would probably die because she's resting in peace and whatever... Still need a new villain, but that'd probably start a whole new story and stretch out the series even longer. =/

I really need to read the manga...

DBZ is stretched too thin, Reality TV is stretched too thin, beef jerky is stretched too thin, but Inuyasha is not stretched too thin......but it's getting close. I think I've seen more to the anime than most of the people here, and I don't really think there's any major problems with it. Yes, Naraku has been the main enemy since like episode 5 or something, and it is annoying that they haven't killed him yet even though I'm on about episode 120. But they fight the real Naraku a few times even if they don't kill him. They put minor villians in an overlapping(I think I spelled that right) storyline but stay true to the their main objective: Collecting the jewel shards. That is their true objective and Naraku just happens to have almost all of them and a bad history with the character that the anime is named after.

I have noticed a DBZ effect on it. Just Saturday, I saw a battle scene and then it immediately switched to some other random scene and then switch back to the fight scene. That's pretty common in DBZ. Something else that could of been better is the fact that where I'm at, there are actually more jewel shards that can fit into the jewel when you add all the pieces together. Naraku's piece is a round object that has about enough space for 3 or 4 shards, Kagome has 3, Koga has 2, and the band of sevem have 1 each.

Well, that's what I think anyway.

It does tend to get a little boring after a while...with the same plot line over and over again. oh...there goes a battle...miroku touches sango's butt...another battle...inuyasha and kagome get in a fight...another battle...miroku still won't keep his hands away...another battle...will those two ever stop fighting? Yeah...I can see your point. I love Inuyasha to death...and would watch reruns of it until no end, but yeah. I see where this is going....

i think some of the episodes are pointless but they still have some backline story and not just to destroy bad people...but i think it should come o some closure or better storyline

[it's almost like harry potter...] but yeah. it's getting a little too thin. [to the point of me not too interested in it anymore.]

like many said, there's countless touching scenes between miroku and sango, kagome saying sit, inuyasha pounding shippou, finding shards, finding MORE shards, losing some shards, getting THEM back, then losing even MORE... finding naraku, attack, leaves half of a head, naraku regenerates, naraku comes back, attacks, leaves half of a head, naraku regenerates, naraku getting kagura to do his job, attack, etc...

ha. but many anime/mangas' follow the same 'theme' so hm.

Oh, definitely. I watched the series religiously until the end of Season 2, then just periodically, whenever I felt like it until the-big-thing-that-happens-in-episode-124 happened, and now I'm watching it religiously again - it gets interesting after that, and the plot seems to get back on track. Really, those other 70-odd episodes don't even need to be there, I understand everything that's going on now perfectly without having watched them, and if they'd taken out things like the Shichinitai arc, which was fun and everything, but did not advance the plot *at all*, or the 20 or so filler episodes, they could've finished the whole series well under the 100 mark. But seriously, guys, don't let the fact that the series has stretched itself too thin keep you from enjoying the parts of the series that *are* good. So many people see the length of this series and refuse to even give it a chance, and by doing so miss out on two seasons' worth of GODLY anime.

There's alot of series that do this. Most animes that last a while, have episodes that have nothing to do with the plot, but are just there. Most of those episodes are good anyways.
