sorry to have to clog this place up with what may be potentially another segment of wasted bandwidth *a moderator is free to delete this* but ive done all my applications for studying Japanese as a single subject at university and just wondered if anybody could offer me any advice on where to go?

i already speak a lil bit, and next year im going on a year out over there (the last 6 months im gonna have to try and find a job!!), but im still not sure which uni does the best course!

Right now ive got my offers from Edinburgh, SOAS, Leeds, Sheffield and Oxford. i dont like oxford, the tutors (whatever they may tell you) have a bad attitude, so no way.
im currently looking at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London, because they have a huge Japanese faculty relatively.

Again, sorry for wasting anyobdies time who this doesnt really apply to (hell, i dont know if there are any other Englidh members on here!)

    Thanks for any ideas!

um, well im in my final year at college right now. Next year im grabbing a plane over to Japan for a year (im just sick of continuous exams!), after that im planning on uni, possibly overseas, but i havent really looked into it that far because of the cost :-\

still, if i have a good time in japan next year, im simply not soming back :p, so maybe i could get into a un iversity in japan :D

... but god knows what to study though... i guess im good at maths and economics so....

    Thanks!

    eh..college?
    >>;; british system..*falls over*

Anyways, good luck if you want to go to University in Japan. Its very hard. I'm planning on going there for a year starting this summer too, but I dont think i could ever do uni over there XD. I think it might be better if you went through your uni and then go on exchange from the uni....^^;; I dunno, that's how things are run over in Oz...=/

yes thats how things are done over here too :)
most Japanese Uni courses contain a year exchange to a university in Japan such as Osaka, Tokyo and others.

But i dont know, maybe i could do a post-grad or a masters in japanese in Japan after i finish up here :D
