    Jedi Academy - Screenshots!

A very cool game, same vein as Jedi Knight 2, which is rather obvious from the title: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

You get to choose what your character looks like, what species, and (if human) what gender. Chhose your saber, and later how many of them :D (ie, lightstaff or dual sabers possible). Choose which force powers you want to upgrade (no control over core powers though, like jump): do I want choke or heal? Or both? Chhose what order you do certain missions. All in all faint trappings of RPG.

Plenty of stormies to pick on, and baddied wielding light sabers (or two). Done with the same engine as Jedi Knight 2 really, though tweaked, and with more detail befitting today's faster computers (though mine isn't any faster unfortunately).

My favourite new feature: Unlike JK2, your saber leaves marks on enemies[/ie], not just the wall. If you impale someone you've knocked to the ground, it kinda melts their whole torso. Dual sabers gives double the fun when impaling heh

    Screenshots to come.

Sounds cool. I've wanted to make my own Jedi for a long time. And JK2 was great. But, I'm still holding out for the PC release of KOTOR.

I just beat this game finally! Well, I just started 2 days ago ^^; It wasn't long enough, I hope they're making a sequel to it! But, that would be a bit hard unless they let you transfer your character to the expansion..

My favourite level was that swoop level where a bunch of dark jedi(I'm assuming they were since there was the camera matrix effect when they got dooshed) were coming after me. The whole thing reminded me of the motorcycle scene in FF7.

I would've enjoyed the game so much more if it had any significant changes since JK2. It felt like an expansion, yet it sold as a standalone. With every game in the series, there was a wow factor.

    Dark Forces
Wow Factor: An FPS Star Wars game at last! And done well, besides.

    Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Wow Factor: Goodbye sprites, hello glorious models. A real Star Wars soundtrack replaced the droning MIDI of Dark Forces. The first live footage filmed for anything Star Wars in a long time.

Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
Wow Factor: Not a whole lot. Mara Jade gets her first game appearance, perhaps. Some of the best nostalgic SW multiplayer action with the Cloud City map. Still, the game only carried an expansion price tag, so wow factor is forgiveable.

    Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Wow Factor: A superb engine boost with the Quake III engine gave some jaw dropping visuals when seen for the first time. Character models were no longer as blocky as Jedi Knight's were, and all other game elements had great overhauls, especially the lightsaber, which was now less clunky than in previous games, and actually *felt* like using a lightsaber and not just hammering around a large stick.

    Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy
Wow Factor: Again, not a whole lot. The ability to wield a double-bladed saber, or two sabers. Character customization and player mission choice - but this is almost a negative considering how it turned the game into more of a smattering of sidequests rather than following a linear story. Basically, an enhancement of JK2, but it had a full price tag slapped onto it.

I coasted through Academy in one evening, and I haven't really touched it since. It's a superb game, and I actually recommend it, but not with the full price tag I paid (unless, of course you don't already own JK2, which is about as good).

Hey, the opening theme to Dark Forces is still a classic Star Wars song to me! I just wish they would create a remake of Dark Forces using the same engine as Outcast/Academy.

One thing that's bothering me is hearing the male Rodian character speak Basic, you'd think it would be a bit more high pitched or something.

Edit: I spoke too soon! http://darkforces.jediknight.net/
