I noticed the DVD is now out in the U.S. with a low price.

I didn't watch it yet so I can't comment on the DVD release.

It's an anime feature from 1997 with an orchestral score by Tomita (if
you don't already know)

I'll bet some people will think it's a "Lion King" ripoff (duh)


If you want something else anime to watch "Millennium Actress" is also
out on DVD today. It's got an orchestral synth score with classical
ambient and techno elements by Susumu Hirasawa, the anime itself has won
a pile of awards and top critic ratings.

In terms of Tomita's work on this movie, the DVD gives the option of
hearing the original Japanese soundtrack or an English dubbed track that
retains all of the original music. Both versions are completely uncut and
there's been no rescoring for the English version.
