Eirtaku Just got the new swanky US Akira DVDs ^_^

This has got to be the best dvd set released yet.

2 discs, 1st one has the brand spanking new English dub (which is a damn sight better than the old one) and the subbed Japanese version.

And its been totally remastered ^_^

Second disc has the production report, sound clips, interview with Otomo, 4,500 pictures (including all of the stoyboards), some clips which talk about the redubbing and remastering process, a glossary of all the terms, places, characters and other things in the film and all of the Japanese trailers.

And it comes in a funky tin case.

Bloody hell thats a lot of stuff, and its presented in Dolby 5.1

Its a fantastic set and any Akira fan should track it down as soon as possible 'cause its a limited edition set.

 

Cool, i was thinkin of getting it but it seems to be getting too rare to buy, buggery, i'll just have to get nightwalker and some kenshin

 

one question. Where can I get a DVD player that can play both region 1 and 2?
Cos there ain't @#%$ you can get in region 2 (okay manga entertainment stuff whoopde do, one or two good titles)

 

Yeah there is! The euopean region2 is the same as they have in japan! but i suppose not that many japanese dvds have english subs.
Wait, does that dub still have cam clarke? (i think it's his name) I mean, Kaneda! Leonardo the turtle!! ^_^ Does he still dub it?

Yeah the dude who did Leonardo's voice. I always thought he rocked. Leonardo was my fav turtle too. I love it when I hear is voice in other @#%$. Like in MGS that was cool.
And why the hell does this board block my artisticly placed curses. @#%$!!!!! that @#%$ sucks!!!!!!

 

Yeah, I always liked that guy who did Leo.
He's in the Beserk and Grandia 2 games for Dreamcast also.

But nope, he ain't in the new dub -_-
But @ least it has the almighty Reba West
(Pai in 3X3 eyes, Minmei in Robotech and Mihoshi in Tenchi) as Kyoko ^_^

As for the DVD player.
There are some DVD players on the market that can play any region DVD, mine can, its a Pioneer DV-530 that I got from the Sony centre in Cork about 3 months ago.

Its says on the box that its only a region 2 player, but all of the region free players seem have the same written on there boxes.

Check the Irish site www.prizebuy.com for other region free players.

Whoah, and here I thought I was the only one who liked Leonardo voicing Kaneda. Tetsuo's voice wasn't half bad in the old dub either.....

 

I heard that's there's not much of a difference between the old and new dub. But regardless, I can't play R1 as my PCDVD ain't working!!!!

Can't beat K.T. Vogt (Washuu in Tenchi) or Amanda Wynn (Rally in Gunsmith Cats and Rei in Evangelion in the voice acting stakes). So there!

 

The new dub has a very different script to the old Streanline pictures version.
I don't think any line of script is totally same as the old one.
