Japanese Just plain off-putting

Does it ever annoy you when people find out you're learning Japanese and say 'isn't it a really hard language to learn?'. In my experiance, they ALWAYS say that and you can tell exactly what they expact you to say.

AND (In some cases, and my case) a parent or other relative randomly says to some other relative or relatives friend "My daughter/Son/Neice/whatever is learning Japanese you know!" and its SOO obvious they're trying to show off and then of course the other person says 'isn't it really difficult?'

 

I'd say it is quite a vexation if I myself experienced it to such an extent. Of the few that know of my actions, they do not reveal it nor do I reveal to those that cannot be trusted.

 

I really hate it when you tell someone that your learning japanese and they ask you how long?then you tell them "about a week"or not that long. Then they tell you to say something really hard like"i want you to get me this movie at blockbuster"and they know you have been learning for a week.

 

That's exactly the reason I'm not telling anyone in my family that I'm learning Japanese! :anger2:

Yeah, that would make it kinda tough.

I'm learning by way of book and CD... unfortunately. The local colleges charge $400-700 per course!

 

Isn't it hard to learn Japanese?

 

If you make it hard then the answer is yes.
